The dwarf princesses dolls interest be greatly, not only because of their spanish origin, but because of the skills they possess. The calca and brina (possibly a very difficult battle) can transform and combine, like Gurren Lagan.

So, while they are a bit creepy, they have an awesome theme song, but my main question is:
How do a bunch of dolls, no matter how magically powered up, nearly kill the party?

Seriously, considering they are probably made of porcelain or plastic, and are supposedly normal sized dolls, how do they almost PHYSICALLY beat up the party?

Fucking Chucky freaked the shit out of me when I was a kid. He's like an evil possessed doll version of that kid on Rugratz. Seriously, what kind of parent buys their kid a doll that looks like that? A terrible parent, that's who.

I've seen all of them.
Still not able to physically kill a knight, a monk, a mage, and someone else I forget.

Golbez infused them with magic to move, talk, etc. in the first place. I think it is safe to say that he beefed up their offense and defense too.

What Sephex said. They may be plastic, but now they're powerful plastic. It's the same reasoning why a DBZ character getting shot in the head would warrant an "ouch" rather than brains splattered on the wall behind them.

that and the subsequent encounter are the most unsettling boss fights in the entire series

I did too as a kid until I got stuck on it. That hasn't happened in many years, but to this day I just get annoyed with them as a result.

I've always assumed that the Calcas' and Brinas' had knives, and that the mere size and weight of Calcabrina's limbs were sufficient enough to do heavy damage.

I was also creeped out by that boss fight as a kid.

The haunting music they played was so distracting to the party that they couldn't properly focus on the fight. It's been probably 9 years since I last played this bit and I still can hear that fucking song. Good lord.

Your party during that boss battle is Cecil, Rosa, Yang, and Kain.

I was never a big fan of the boss battle as I would sometimes accidentally kill all of the dolls before they had a chance to transform into Calcabrina. I thought the boss battle after that was much more exciting.
