When I first played Final Fantasy II, it was a short stint on my cousin's SNES and I later found out I'd actually played a boss battle from Final Fantasy IV.
My first real experience playing II was on the PlayStation release of the NES version. I found the opening FMV to be very entertaining, mostly because Firion tossing that knife made it seem action-y.
I'm pretty sure I bought it when it was originally released back in 2002. I played up until the Sled, I think. I don't think I played past that by much.
I was living where I'm living now except in a different apartment. I was a year away from graduation at a charter and I had made a friend in a girl named Kat whose mother offered me transportation to school free-of-charge. I asked Kat out once.
...so anyway, where were you when you first played (the genuine) II?

Through a translated ROM on the old family PC while living with my parents still. I was just out of High School in 2000, I think. I finally ended up going through the GBA version of FFII years later. 2005, I think that was. By then I was in my own apartment that I am still living in.

I was in high school and I got the GBA remake as a Christmas gift. That's where I first played I and II.

I played the translated rom in my college dorm room, and eventually when I got my PS2 I played the Origins version.
I was here in this room and I played it on my GBA. Loved every second!
At home. I got the DoS version. Wasn't half bad but didn't keep me as much as the first one, it was just easier to understand the battles and levelling.

I got in with Final Fantasy Origins. To be honest, I didn't like it all that much, the leveling system was annoying and the plot didn't grab my attention like the later ones.

In my mother's fetus. I used mind control to operate the controller. I never actually played this one.

I borrowed Final Fantasy Origins from my cousin and played it that way. To this day, I still don't know how I managed to defeat the game so underlevelled (I used the Blood Swords of course, but that doesn't help against each and every random encounter when your HP is around 1400-1800).

NES emulator at school. Having to die in the first fight was, in my opinion, extremely novel.
I tried so hard to win. Maria dodged an attack once I think and my HOPES SHOT UP

I was in college I believe with the Origins Version. I didn't mind the game, though it took me a few years to finally get back to it and finish it. My second playthrough made me appreciate it more.

The GBA version, a friend let me borrow it.
Junior high, I ordered the Dawn of Souls package. I beat it right after I. Same as WK - my second playthrough made me appreciate it more.

I was right here um, about a year ago, with an emulator. Still haven't finished it!
Interesting little FF, I need to get to it.

I got Dawn of Souls as a birthday present in middle school. I really enjoyed the stat system and never really understood why people bag on it so much. Somehow I lost my cart though, so I've never beaten Soul of Rebirth... :(
