Why on earth would anyone reveal his identity?

So, I was reading up on the book that was wrote and fixing to come out by one of the SEAL Team 6 who took out bin Laden, and I am so surprised that anyone would release his true identity to the public. Even in a public interview on "60 Minutes", his physical appearance was changed "unrecognizable". I don't see why anyone would release that, now putting not only him but his families lives in jeopardy. Dumb move IMO.

I don't really see a strong reason why he shouldn't come out to the public, but I don't see why he felt he need to write a book about it in the first place, either.

It's funny but yeah he did it for the money and now he's been named in the press and well frankly whilst I might disagree with the naming of the guy because he is putting himself and his relatives at risk from doing so. I am also well aware that he had to have known the risks involved before he came out with the book.
