Obligatory poll thread! :D
Damn straight I will. =o Lightning certainly isn't my favourite character from the XIII series by any means, but I can't resist. I enjoyed XIII, I really enjoyed XIII-2, so fingers crossed the improvements will continue and I'll simply adore this one. ...assuming it's out on a console I can play it on.
I am more excited for this entry than its two prequels. I will probably get it on launch day, which is quite the change of pace for me!

There is no poll option for thinking that this game looks un-fun based on it's own merits Which is a shame, because Lightning is one of the few things I liked from FF13.

I'll need more info before I buy. I'm burnt out from the FFXIII universe and I'm not going to auto-buy any new game that comes from it.

I'm a lot more intrigued by this game than I am FFXIII-2, I'll tell you that much. Definitely considering.

I'm with Del; I may well buy this game shortly after its release, but I need some more info first.

I've yet to finish 13 or start 13-2 (despite owning it for 2 months)
Maybe after those.

Yes, I can't wait. It sounds awesome so far, and I loved FFXIII and FFXIII-2 and can't wait to see how it ends.

I will play it at some point. I am not considering purchasing it on its release date as I did not play Final Fantasy XIII-2.
That is one of the dangers of having an anthology of games with a direct correlation with each other: you risk alienating the audience for the sheer fact that they may not have played the predecessor.

Who close the poll? I would have voted.

I think polls have a default open time of something like a week, so it automatically closes after that.

I will probably pick this up close to launch as I will not be patient enough to wait for the price to drop. Even if the game ends up being an uneven and rough experience like XIII-2, it will still be worth playing simply because there will not be another game out like it. I really like the art design; especially the main city, Luxerion. The mix of gothic/50s is intriguing..

If the poll was still open, I would have gone for the eventually category. I do like the FF XIII Saga, probably more than traditionalist players, but I am intrigued how the game will fit together. Far as I'm aware, Lightning is the only playable character, which is a first, and I do wonder if the game will play more linearly than FF XIII-2, given how the world's going to end in thirteen days. Detours to Serendipity would be quite costly I would think. I'll just have to see what the game looks like when it's done.

Once the price goes to 20 dollars. Same opinion I had with XIII-2.

I dunno. I feel like the FFXIII games, while okay in their own right, lack most of what I look for in an RPG. I heard about the time limit element in this game, and while that sounds interesting, I hardly want to force myself to play a game where the universe doesn't grab me and I don't like the main character (from what I played of the first game)

FFXIII didn't capture me as much I wanted it to, and I didn't even play FFXIII-2.
Maybe if i find them both in a used game outlet thingie in a couple years. At this point I'm more hopeful towards FFXV not being smurfed up.

While I did enjoy the original game. Sheet got old fast. The sequel wasn't all that good and ended up creating more plot holes and not really fixing anything or changing anything for the better. The whole DLC thing was stupid and the ending was one of the most retarded things I've ever seen within a video game.
So " I don't think so Tim ". Is my answer. Plus SquareEnix has said that this was the last "Lightning " game they didn't say that it was the last " Final Fantasy XIII " game. So I'm kind of seeing a another crappy ending and more FF XIII games flooding in the gates. Oh and more costume based DLC.
I just want a new beginning and a new fresh plate.

I can't form any opinion yet but for now "yes" this has nothing to do with XIII or FF elements in general sadly, I just like the illustrations especially oasis, gameplay direction such as transformation like X-2 and Cutey Honey and i kinda don't want to play any JRPG with strong MMO influence or with low-input at the moment so yeah.

I definitely will!
I really liked FFXIII and loved FFXIII-2 for the changes it implemented + the new characters and villains. So if they can improve on the storyline and mythology for the last one in the saga, this will be a day-1 buy for me :jess: (heck, I'll probably buy it regardless!)

I'm buying it, eventually. I don't think a day 1 buy would be a good thing for me to do, but I enjoyed XIII and I loved XIII-2. Plus, I NEED to finish the story. I hate not being able to see how a story really ends. Closure is an important thing for me.

I'm with this guy all the way.
bottom option, did not care for FF13 nor did i really give it a fair chance.

I am with Levian on this. Played the first, was not thrilled, skipped the second entirely for that reason, and unless there is something new, fun, and crazy with the third installment, I will continue to abstain.

Yes. Probably on launch day. I didn't really enjoy XIII that much but XIII-2 fixed a lot of my gripes with XIII and I feel it's overall a superior game. So if they continue that trend then I'll give them the benefit of the doubt and get "XIII-3"
(of course I'd much rather they get around to releasing Versus XIII)

No. I liked FFXIII, but there's just something about a Final Fantasy spinoff that I can't get down with. I bought and enjoyed Revenant Wings, and I can't say why that was different. Maybe the completely different art style, unique gameplay mash-up and the fact that I had played FFXII for like 300 hours within a year of its release had something to do with it. But not this.
I'm considerably turned-off by them openly making these games as "redemption titles." I don't think game developers should ever have to redeem themselves by crafting a make-up game, and I personally feel like Kitase and Toriyama have nothing to redeem themselves for. They've made better games than just about anyone else in the industry and they gave it their best shot with their first game of this generation, there was no need to waste the rest of it trying to make the same game but a little better.
I don't like the combat. Again, I enjoyed XIII, I enjoyed the combat system, but it's just not for me. I like turn-based, menu-based combat. I love poring over customization options, sorting items, and comparing statistics. I understand XIII-3 is changing up the actual combat a bit, but I still just don't think it's for me.
I still respect and appreciate people's rights to buy and enjoy this game.
Ouch!

My venomous feelings toward Final Fantasy XIII that I did not purchase XIII-2 despite everyone telling me that it was better than the first in just about every way (except, you know, a cliffhanger ending). At this point, I have no interest in even following Final Fantasy XIII-3.

Nope.
While Lightning isn't a terrible character or lead she's sort of highly overrated imo. However if it was a game about Sazh, Fang or Noel then yeah it would of been a day one buy.
She's not the best Final Fantasy female or best Final Fantasy lead, but for some reason Square-Enix believes that she is.

Why not. I like the XIII-verse in its own way enough. But God isn't it almost gettin like the typical trilogy formula? The first ends happy, second is a cliffhanger, third is finale time. I'm down to see where they decide to end this.
