I just went garage sale-ing. I'm about to move out and I have no qualms about using older stuff, it's cheaper for me in the long run. I bought a juicer today for $2! And a teacup set for a dollar! Do you go garage sale-ing? Do you have them? Any cool loots from them?

I got Earthbound and Lufia at a garage sale for five bucks each. Best garage sale ever!

I found a first edition Gilda of Oz book for $5 at a garage sale, and a misprinted (the owner probably had no idea) buffalo nickel from 1896 for $.25

I got a first edition of Batman issue #34 for 50p.

Chuffed does not even come close.

Not really since I have very little use for them and, for most things, I don't like buying used items.

We would host more yard sales but we're not in a good traffic location for one. Recently I've been using Kijiji to sell some of our old things though and it's working out quite nicely (sold a desk and my dad sold his M&S tires)

There was one on my block today, but I didn't go. I always have paranoia about buying people's old shit. Could have bed bugs!

I picked up a boyfriend during garage sales.....
Does that counts? Oink oink! Lol.

I always feel a bit odd cruising around on someone's yard looking at their stuff but you find some good bargains from time to time.

My mom's development has an annual yard sale day, which is pretty cool. I generally don't bother buying anything, as most of the stuff is crap, but if I can manage to visit that weekend I'll sell some old games, DVDs, and other assorted junk. I think I made about $80 during the last one.

When I was a kid, I got Castlevania II for cheap at one. The game isn't all that great, but the price--even then--was right.

I've actually never been to a garage or yard sale. I have been to book rummage sales, though. Those are great. I get random, not popular books I actually like for a quarter each!

EDIT: What kind of juice are you going to make, Freya?

Also for the people who do go to garage sales, are you a good haggler?

If anyone knocks garage sales or secondhand stores in this thread I will punch them square in the back of the head.

Garage sales are amazing and I love rifling through other peoples' junk. It's like looking for treasure.

No really garage sales around me, although move in day there was so much furniture just thrown away on the street I could've gotten some free stuff :P

They always seem to happen on a weekday afternoon while I'm at work

Who has a garage sale on a weekday? They are weekend events.

Garage sales on weekdays is missing the whole point.

Weekends are when you are going to receive the most traffic because people can pop round early morning before they have shit to do people to see places to go. That's just how it works.

Oh wait, I read that as, "Garage sales on weekends is missing the whole point."

When I was younger my mom and I would go every weekend and I loved it! I sometimes think of going to them now a days because I LOVE Antiques and hope to find some awesome ones to display later on in life.
