I know I am kinda straying away from the rules of part 2 here, but I think this is good as time to discuss this issue as any.

The damn spam bots. Isn't there any better ways to prevent them from registering? I'm no expert on editing a message board, and I know there is an image verification when someone registers, but would it be possible to put a captcha there instead? It stopped bots from attacking 4chan, so it has to be good for a much smaller message board like this one.

Failing that, wouldn't having multiple questions to be answered be a better safeguard? Nothing too ridiculous, but maybe three or four simple questions?

If a bot can pass one simple question that a human could, then it could pass multiples. They usually don't last long and some bot threads are entertaining, like when G13 thought one of them was real. The status quo is fine on this.

Is that directed at me or Bleys?

I vaguely remember talking to someone about this and they said that Rantz had made an easier bot ban button?

I was curious as to what specific things you would implement. Which questions do you consider "human" enough to fool a bot? I didn't see Bleys' post. xD

My plan is to ask questions that a bot will answer!

Is binary your favorite color?

Aren't humans stupid?

Don't you hate it when you leak oil?

Okay, real answer: Just more generic questions like, "Can you name the seventh title of the series this forum is themed after?"

Anything that makes signing up for potential users more of a pain in the butt seems like a bad idea to me. I've not signed up for sites for stupider reasons.

I don't know that!

The bots can get pretty annoying when one of them makes 5 threads in a row in GC, though I have absolutely no technical knowledge about what can be done about it. I do agree with Gobo that anything that is done should not make registering any more annoying. If that can't be done, then I'm sure the staff can manage with actually having to do something on occasion. At least now that Yams is gone (http://home.eyesonff.com/feedback-forum-archive/65281-feedback-yams.html).

I believe Rantz is trying to work on something that will zap bots faster. I have no other solutions to suggest except to be quick to unsheath your weapon when they attack.

I hate those goddamn captcha things. It usually takes me four tries or some shit to get them right.
