View Full Version : Yuna be crazy

Ok, so I just got past the marriage to Seymour, and afterwards Seymour orders everyone killed. Yuna says to stop, or else she'll jump off a ledge, so everyone lowers their guns. But then Yuna jumps anyway, forcing Rikku to use a smoke bomb in order for you to make your escape.

I understand Yuna needed to jump to escape, but why do it before she secured the release of your party? If she was that worried about everyone being killed 5 seconds beforehand, then the party was still at risk immediately after she jumped. And if she wasn't worried about Tidus and them being killed, then the whole dramatic show was pointless.

Am I missing something? Or was Yuna's thinking affected by her wedding cake being laced with meth or something?

I'm going to go with meth-laced wedding cake frosting on this one, because it doesn't make sense and she is indeed a bucket of cray cray.

She obviously had faith that she was going to cause a large enough distraction to allow the party to escape. I'd've gone for something a little more concrete.

Yup, I think it works like a distraction too!!

Remember Yuna originally planned to do everything by herself so she had plans to try and send him during the wedding. She wanted to be independent, strong woman type thing. :kakapo:

But then Tidus and the rest of the goons show up and her whole plan so I think that she's a little panicked and doesn't know what to do now. Her whole six weeks of thinking what to do with Seymour have just gone down the toilet seat. So it makes sense that she was a little stressed, worried and didn't know what she was doing in a way. She needed to think of a new plan and everything wasn't going the way that she originally hoped that it would.

All I know is that it makes for one bitchin' sweet FMV.

I agree. That FMV was one of my favourites in the game.

I think Yuna jumped to create a distraction. She probably knew that the rest of the group would be able to handle themselves with a little bit of distraction.

Even in that case, Rikku was pretty dumb. "Well, I could let them walk out of here safely... or I could just create a ruckus and desperately hope that they can run fast... Decisions, decisions.... Oh well, the whole walking this is just fucking boring. GERONIMO!"

I guess she read the script and realised if she prevented them from going to the Via Purifico she would've been in breach of her contract and ended up being sued, because I can't think of any other reason for that scene playing out the way it did other than to get from point A to point B.

And that's why she does it. It's a case of wanting to do a pretty FMV of her jumping off (probably to add shock/drama to the game trailers back then) and failing to properly write in the justification for it. Classic case of writing the story around the graphics instead of creating the graphics to support the story, which happens in modern games. It didn't bother me too much.

Calling it a distraction works well enough though :)

To say nothing of the countless Linkin Park amvs it created back in 2007 and 2008.
