It's autumn, guys! What's your autumn music?

For me, it's time for:

Funeral by Arcade Fire
The ArchAndroid by Janelle Monae
Treats by Sleigh Bells
Writer's Block by Peter Bjorn and John

Going off the top of my head (I really don't feel like searching my library):

Autumn to Spring Medley -- Steeleye Span
When October Goes -- various artists, but I have the Barry Manilow version

I don't really have specific autumn music, but I'm probably less likely to listen to the chart music, because there's something about summer chart songs that makes me want to dance and be... summery!

I guess I like more sombre/mellow music!

CAN NEVER HAVE ENOUGH AUTUMN MUSIC

PS--Autumn is my favourite season. We get some killer storms here, and everything gets really pretty. And I drive with my windows down and blast musics and wear cute fall clothes.

Also--listening to music with the seasons/weather is great. There is just some music you can't listen to in winter. Some you can't listen to in summer. Really, can you listen to jj in winter? I think not.

I don't really divide my music up into seasons.

It's spring down here.

And even if it wasn't I don't break up music by season either.

It's not necessarily about dividing music up with the seasons. I listen to my music listed above more often during fall/winter because of nostalgiac situations during that time that I associate with them.

Music that is big at certain times is basically the only time I associate music with a season or time. Or like the fact that I listened to Danza Kuduro a shit load while in the US.

Please do : ) The first track of Dr. Dog's 'Fate' is pure pure all that is autumn.

And I hear you man, Jack Johnson and Animal Liberation Orchestra only work in spring and summer. Winter is when darker stuff like Arcade Fire's Neon Bible and Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon get extra spins, but let's save that for the winter topic when it arrives : )

I was probably exaggerating when I said you can't listen to a certain song during a certain time of year. :P But, for me, there IS music that I associate more with different seasons, both because I listened to a ton during the season, it was the first time I heard it during that time, or (remember, synesthesia, fuck yeah, man) it sounds like autumn.

Like, bros, I still listen to Sufjan Stevens in summer, but his music is late autumn/early winter to me. And lots of grey, rainy weather. Etc etc.

When does a song qualify as being an Autumn song? Does it have to include the theme of the season in some way? Or is it meant as a metaphor?

Obvious choices would be a song like "Autumn Leaves", and metaphorically speaking, "It Was a Very Good Year", seems like a good choice.
