styling drop-down css help?

i can see the sample works on ie but when i copy-paste the code on tutorial it does not work. it says it uses jquery to run properly on ie but i cannot find where is it on the source so i can add to my code. please help :)

The method outlined in the article seems ill-advised as it doesn't really provide much flexibility as far as design goes. In fact, I'd suggest using something like this (http://www.noupe.com/tutorial/drop-down-menu-jquery-css.html) instead.
