View Full Version : THE MOST WONDERFUL TIME OF THE YEAR

Shorty

It is October 2nd and no one has made this thread yet.

Halloween is by far and away the best holiday during the year (not up for debate :aimmad:). Talk about why Halloween and October in general is great and also please tell us what you're going to dress up this year. Anyone who says "nothing" can gtso. Also jack-o-lanterns. Who's carving? Thinking about doing a squid this year!

I want to be a steampunk girl with teal hair

i can get around the dress code at work by coming in decked out like Alexander DeLarge...just can't wear the hat or codpiece. as for halloween night itself, i'm probably just gonna recycle my suave pirate outfit and drunkenly fire off nerf bullets with a little plastic flintlock.

Going as a flapper. I'm gonna take the boys to their Halloween dance, and I have all the pieces to make a flapper-esque costume without buying anything.

I don't understand steampunk. Like, I don't even know what it is, really.

It's supposed to be a literary genre where you take the 19th century industrial revolution and twist it a bit and come up with an alternate scenario. What if Charles Babbage's analytical engine had been funded? What would the late 1800s be like in that case?

But it has turned into some sort of "let's glue gears and goggles on it and call it ~*~steampunk~*~" thing

As you can maybe tell I am a gigantic fan of the former and love writing in that genre :greenie:

Halloween time at Disneyland is the second best time of the year at Disneyland! The first should be obvious.

Usually I'm all, "ewww" at the sluttification of girls on Halloween. But it dawned on me that I probably have very very very few years in which I can partake in that established tradition before it becomes completely and utterly inappropriate. So who knows, I might slutty it up this year.

I like the atmosphere, but as I age it has more to do with how the weather gets and how my surrounds look. I like cool weather and multicolored leaves. I mean, when I was a kid I LOVED to dress up and tick or treat, but I obviously outgrew that awhile ago aside from dressing up for an adult party, but it doesn't feel the same anymore.

See, all these sexist costumes would probably piss me off, but when I got out with friends at this time of the year... well, I guess there aren't many girls that can fit into those costumes and the ones that do just don't want to wear them. Either that or I'm hanging out with all the wrong people. The basic gist of this is that although there are some sexy costumes out there, girls have a choice over what they wear and some will wear them because they want to, and some will not because they don't want to. If they can't make up their own mind for themselves then that's a problem that extends well beyond Halloween. I'm sure there are some girls out there actually like having the opportunity to dress sexy one night of the year without being accused of being a slut, but then again some of those costumes might still encourage certain people to say those kind of things about them.

Of course, I don't like dress up parties anyway. Although God damn that Marvin the Martian costume is pure epic on ever level.
