Way back when we used to do big ol' Voice Chat on Yahoo! Messenger, and it'd be cool to do that sort of thing again. :} It would also give me something to do when I'm bored and unemployed. :p

We were discussing Skype vs Y!M in that other thread that has been saved from derailment. But uh, I dunno which one would actually be best. People with more experience with Skype could help out here.

So, let's get excited for long exciting chats with EoFFers! :}

Cloudane mentioned that Skype group calls are limited to 25 people, which could possibly be a limiting factor here.

Although, apparently, group calls can be up to 100 people in one call. Hmm. Looks like it'll be a get one started up and find out what happens. xD

There's also Mumble, Ventrilo and others like that for voice chat. The servers cost money though. :x I'm not sure but I think Google Hangouts is something similar.

I actually have a free Mumble server but that only allows 5 people. I could look into prices and if it's reasonable, I could maybe get us a 20 or so person server.

Skype is free and definitely allows at least 25 people in a single call, so I wouldn't worry yourself over this. :3 Thanks anyway, though! :D

Yeah 25 max in a Skype group if you want to be able to start a call in it, based on my experience with brony groups.

I'd probably just listen in and tappy-tap on text chat unless drunk enough (shyness etc) but would be glad to see this going :D

The other thing I remember from days gone by was an FF radio station. There's one around but it doesn't look like it's on air - can't verify at the moment due to being at work :p

It seems like only 5-15 people are active in chat any given time and I doubt as much people will want to voice chat. So as long as inactive people leave or are given the boot, 25 should be no problem.

Cats chewed through my webcam cord, and the webcam had the mic on it, so I can't really do the voice-chat thing because skype still thinks I have my mic in or something. I'll get a new one soon and then we'll do this thing properly. Until then I can't hear anything anyone is saying ;_;

It'd be cool if we could do that, but it seems with Skype we have a call "host" and when they leave the call shuts down, so it can never really be neverending, and if people don't care to start another one it is done. :p

I just finished setting up a Mumble server on my VPS. Mumble will work like the chat room, so it'll always be up whether people are on or not. I forgot I could use my VPS instead of paying for a separate server, hurdur. Set it to 100 people, not expecting that many people though. But I'll keep an eye out on CPU, RAM and bandwidth usage and may have to lower it.

Mumble.com | Mumble Server Hosting (http://www.mumble.com) to download the client. Once you've started Mumble and are at the prompt to join a server, instead of looking through the "Public Internet" list(it won't be there), click "Add New" on the bottom left. Put darkerthanblack.net as the Address, port keep as the default(64738).

I can give Admins/Editors/etc. Admin privileges on it if you(the Admins), once on the server, right-click your name, then select Register. You won't be able to change your name after registering. Then PM me to let me know it's done and I'll give you privileges ASAP.

If you all prefer Skype, obviously that's fine. I just set up another option for you all. Hope you enjoy whatever you decide. :D
