It's my first (and hopefully not the last) one this coming November. For those who've been to one, if you don't mind sharing about your experiences, I'd love to hear from you!

What was your favorite piece from their setlist? And would you watch one again?

I mentioned this briefly in another thread, but it's AWESOME!

I went to it twice, because the tour came to my city two years in a row. The first time they came offered a meet-and-greet with Nobuo Uematsu and Arnie Roth. They signed my FFIX Piano Collections book. X3 ... That first year, though, Susan Calloway wasn't with them, so there was no Melodies of Life or Suteki Da Ne in the setlist. The opera singers were there, too, so they did the FFVI opera. My friend sat a few seats away from Uematsu and his interpretor in the audience... when my friend cried (being the big sentimental baby he was <3) during one of the songs (I think an FFXI one), the interpretor gave him a tissue lmao.

The second time I went, they had Susan Calloway, but no Uematsu, so no meet-and-greet for him, clearly. However, Hamauzu was in the audience. I don't know if he did a meet-and-greet because I got my tickets late that time around and that option wasn't offered to me on the website. It was still fun, nonetheless. No opera singers and no aria, though. XD

Both times, they did a Q&A after the whole setlist.

As for the people themselves, bring a camera if you like photographing cosplayers. DEFINITELY bring one if you're doing a meet-and-greet. They allow you to have something signed and a photograph, iirc.

My favorite pieces were the FFI-III Medley (the 2010 version), Liberi Fatali, Suteki Da Ne, Ronfaure, Terra's Theme, and The Place I'll Return To Someday/Melodies of Life. The opera was splendid, as well. That's a difficult question, though. I'm an Uematsu fangirl. D:

And yes, if they toured here again, I would definitely go. Final Fantasy music is something I never get sick of.

That's all I got. I hope you enjoy the concert! :D

Oh gawd, I hope I'm as lucky as you're friend! Still crossing my fingers regarding Nobuo's presence in Malaysia :)

Not sure if there's a meet and greet since we weren't offered that option. Still, I'll keep the camera and pens handy just in case! So excited :jess:

Wanted to go to the London performance but I had no time to fix the visa requirements and all. I'm going to the Malaysia one this coming November. :)

Yeah went to the London one last year, ended up sitting like 5 seats away from Uematsu all night, and pissing myself at some woman next to me who screamed UEMATSU-SAMA!!!!! when he came out on stage for the first time. Don't do that, if you don't want everyone else laughing at you for being a gimp.

But yeah other than that it was awesome, my favourite song was easily Maria and Draco's opera, which surprised me because I'm not really arsed either way about FFVI or its soundtrack, but it was absolutely brilliant.

....and I was thinking of doing the same thing if he comes to the show. >.<

I've watched their Japan show (on video only, of course) and I was spellbound by the opera. Then again, I'm biased because I used to be a singer myself. :)

I'll be going to the upcoming 25th Anniversary show in Chicago. This will be my 7th (or 8th if you count the day night double header separately) show dating back to Dear Friends in 2005. It had almost come to the point of being routine since the set list doesn't vary too wildly. But the upcoming show boasts a bunch of new music and some re-arrangements.

I'm most excited for the Opera Scene, since they promised a new composition of it for the show. The first time I saw it live, it blew me away. The Opera singers they had at that show in Chicago in 2008 (I think) were fantastic. And the singer performing Ralse's part was particularly into his piece. He mocked a throw-down of his sheet music at the "Then we duel!" part.

Only did the meet and greet once, as it was part of the limited Chamber Music show earlier this year. Got all my programs signed, still haven't figured out how to display them.

I'm not sure if they offerred the meet and greet for the Malaysia concert. :( You're so lucky! I hope they get good singers for their shows this year.

If only I lived in the US or in Europe even, I'd probably make it a point to go to an FF concert every year.

Was reading on the Distant Worlds website about the concert in London next week:

'The program is full of premieres, classics and wildcards, including…
FINAL FANTASY IV: Battle With Four Fiends (Uematsu)
FINAL FANTASY V: Main Theme (Uematsu)
FINAL FANTASY VI: The Phantom Forest (Uematsu)
FINAL FANTASY XI: Vana'diel March (Mizuta)
FINAL FANTASY XII: The Dalmasca Estersand (Sakimoto)
PLUS: Nobuo Uematsu's new version of FINAL FANTASY VI: Opera "Maria & Draco" and other beloved classics such as FINAL FANTASY VII: One Winged Angel and FINAL FANTASY X: Zanarkand – and new SURPRISE MEDLEYS!'

:)

Battle with Four Fiends is one I've been hoping they'd do. There is also supposed to be some new merchandise and special lobby displays for the show. I'll be taking a ton of pictures for sure with those. I'll be in the balcony for the first time, we always bought floor seats before. Hoping it brings a new appreciation for the show. I didn't know at the time how different it was going to be.

I'm just fortune to live in the Chicago suburbs. Arnie Roth is a local boy so I imagine that has to factor into why we've had at least one every year since 2008. The only exception being 2010, because the Ravinia canceled it. I still have the tickets for that show too.... :P

If you get the chance and can afford the extra money, the meet and greet is fantastic. They were both very talkative and appreciative of everyone, and we chit chatted briefly about all the shows. Uematsu himself shook my hand twice. A buddy and I that have gone to all these shows went to check out the Legend of Zelda: Symphony of the Goddesses show a few nights ago. Great venue, high production value. But the music itself just doesn't compare. Only got me more excited for the Distant Worlds show. You will have a great time, especially if it's your first time at one.

I've never been, though I'm disappointed that they're coming to the UK and I wasn't aware of the fact. Sadly nowhere near me as I'm probably close to smack bang in the middle between Edinburgh and London. I've listened to some songs from them online and it looks like it'd be a great experience. I've been to a few classical music concerts which have been fantastic, and I think it'd be even better to go to one of these.

Now I'm wishing I live in Chicago. Haha. I think I'd spazz and die of happiness if Nobuo-sensei shakes my hand.

Yeah, I heard about those merchandise they'll be selling during the show. My wallet is ready >:). Music-wise, I've always been in awe of the depth of the FF scores. I haven't listened to much game scores lately though so I need to broaden my music library if I'm to make comparisons. Legend of Zelda also has a beautiful score in general but some people don't like the 'elfin' sound running through it.

Only makes me more excited for my first concert. I hope to be able to watch it in Japan before they close the show :)

We got some that weren't on that list. This is from memory so someone else who was there can feel free to correct me.

FINAL FANTASY SERIES: Main Theme, Prelude, Victory Theme, a battle medley featuring Battle on the Big Bridge, FFVII's battle theme and another one I don't remember, and a new Chocobo medley. I can't describe how fantastic that medley was, just trust me, you missed out.

FINAL FANTASY I-III: Medley

FINAL FANTASY IV: Battle With Four Fiends, Theme of Love

FINAL FANTASY V: Main Theme

FINAL FANTASY VI: Opera "Maria and Draco" extended, Phantom Forest.

FINAL FANTASY VII: One-Winged Angel

FINAL FANTASY VIII: Don't be Afraid, Eyes on Me

FINAL FANTASY IX: You're Not Alone

FINAL FANTASY X: Zanarkand

FINAL FANTASY XI: Vana'diel March

FINAL FANTASY XII: The Dalmasca Estersand

FINAL FANTASY XIII: Blinded by Light

FINAL FANTASY XIV: Answers

We got the chocobo medley =] At least, we got a chocobo medley. It started with XIV:ARR's one, had Swing de Chocobo in it, not sure on the exact names of the other ones.

Not Distant Worlds, but the London Symphony Orchestra is doing a concert of music from FFVI, FFVII and FFX in London in May:
