Anniversary Mafia Discussion Thread

Happy Anniversary!

In celebration of our great series, Eyes on Final Fantasy will be holding a Final Fantasy themed Mafia game: this one! Two games were planned, but I'm putting aside that idea to have one epic game.

And epic is the key word.

Do you remember Mindsmurf Mafia? This game will be like that, but worse. Nothing is as it seems. There will be no Goons and no Vanilla Townies. There will be a lot of mystery, excitement and fun.

Players both new and old should definitely take part in this milestone event, for it will be one to remember!

There are 25 positions, in celebration of Final Fantasy's 25th Anniversary. You can sign up in thread, or Mognet Message me your anonymous sign up.

If you're not familiar with the game, then post saying so! While sign ups are under way, I will - with or without the aid of other players - give you some crash course coaching to get you up to scratch. The best way to learn is by doing, however, so get involved and you'll fall in love.

Here are some basic rules, courtesy of a long list of people:

• All Mafia related discussion must happen in the Official Game Thread. Exceptions to this will be explicitly stated in Role Mognet Messages; if yours doesn't mention it, don't do it! Refrain from using external sources such as IRC, Mognet Messages, instant messages, facebook, phone, text, snail mail, etc. to communicate with other players (unless otherwise stated). This can and will result in a modkill. If you're unsure, message the host (me) and queries will be answered.

• Do not reveal your role or alignment to players outside of the game thread. Simply a reiteration of the first rule; breaking this ruins the fun for everyone. Don't be a funkiller.

• Play nice. Even if you are using second accounts, don't resort to flaming and whatnot. Kill each other without resorting to being mean. The rules of Eyes on Final Fantasy are still enforced.

• Use your Mafia accounts to post, not your personal accounts. This eliminates confusion.

• Play fair. Also known as the "don't be an ass" rule. This includes cheating, diverging completely from your role, deleting or editing your posts, illegally finding out other players' information, etc. Hosts reserve the right to replace or modkill any player if unfair methods are being used.

• Do not post in any non-Mafia related threads with your Mafia account.

• You cannot abstain from voting! Non-voters will have their vote counted against them.

Regarding roles and accounts:
• All of the roles were assigned randomly to a character and then those were randomly assigned to a player.

• Don't roleplay. Or do. I don't mind. Some people find it annoying. Play your character however you wish. No penalties will be imposed for anybody that does roleplay. Just have fun!

• Don’t share with others who you are or what your password is or what your role is. This makes it lose its fun-ness. Think for yourselves guys! You don’t need anyone else. (Obviously not valid for shared accounts)
If you pull a Pyromaniak and hijack accounts that don't belong to you, you will be banned and forever known as a complete jackass.

how long will days/nights last? i don't wanna get modkilled for not being able to post when I'm on the west coast and won't have the same level of internet access that I currently do. i should have access to internet on the 14th and 15th, not sure about most of the 16th, probably on 17th, maybe the 18th.

(i want to play pls)

(longer days are better anyway - more discussion, more flexibility with peoples's's real life schedules, etc etc etc. i just played in a game on another forum where days were like 144 hours and nights were 24; that's a bit long imo but it's a good game (still going on rofl))

I hope I was killed by accident because killing off the active players early on makes for a boring ass game. We usually wait until Day 4 or 5 before killing Psychotic even though he takes out half our team by then. I should have stuck to my usual style of laying low for a few days before taking over and putting all efforts into lynching Psychotic. :p

To be fair to Serah, she probably couldn't roleclaim being a damn governor. If she turned out to be lying, she would probably be in big trouble.

Still, it's sooo annoying. I fully expected a death, only to get nothing. It also leads to an interesting question: Quistis is a gladiator and chose Serah to be her challenger. They then began some weird thing were they are both accepting death, only for the last minute for Serah to impose Marshall law for a day and stop all lynches, saving both of them.

If both Quistis and Serah are of the same alignment, then Quistis's move is idiotic, because they have both wasted two very potent role moves. This leads me to suggest that they are of opposite alignments, but why do they appear to be in cohoots together, like they planned this to happen? Something is not quite right here... :mad:

I proposed a variant of GHF's game to the EC; the reaction was lukewarm at best due to its similarity to mafia. I do not think it will ever get off of the ground.

Psy's comment on it when I PM'd it to him as a membership application was that its similarity to mafia meant it would be either a total hit or a total trout, and I concur. It is most assuredly not a total hit.

I always refer to the gender of the character. So for example Tidus is = he, even if he was played by a female. It just makes things so much easier.
