Scott Derrickson to Direct ‘Deus Ex’ Feature From Iconic Video Game (http://www.cbsfilms.com/news/scott_derrickson_to_direct_deus_ex_feature_from_iconic_video_game)

Based off of Human Revolution, apparently.

I'm not sure what to think. :|

It is going to be a steaming pile of shit next to the games but I am going to love every second of it because man how cool is the setting

Out of all the video games that have been made into movie, this one seems like it could benefit the most from an adaptation.

Please don't fuck it up, though.

Please don't suck. Please don't suck.

But besides that, this thread is now about quotes that must make it into the movie for it to not suck.

"What a shame."

I really hope the plans for this movie don't get cancelled. I'm actually excited for it. There are movies out that I enjoy, but for the first time in a long time, this makes me look forward to seeing something.

In my Playthrough of Human Revolution, when the woman refused to pay up for the chip implant she had in her mind, I threw her refrigerator at her, murdering her in the process, and ripped the chip out of her skull.

If this is not in the movie, I will be disappointed. :colbert:

Isn't "Deus Ex" when you can't think of a better a way for your characters to succeed so you suddenly make something happen so they do?

That's Deus Ex Machina. A lot of people shorten it to that though. :p

"It's not the end of the world, but you can see it from here."

"You mechs may have copper wiring to reroute your fear of pain, but I've got nerves of steel."

"We are the Invisible Hand. We are the Illuminati. We come before and after. We are forever. And eventually... eventually we will lead them into the day."
"You're talking about (chuckles) the Illuminati?

Best one: "Oh, and by the way, Jensen? I know you have gone through a lot of physical changes as of late, but you didn't become a woman. Stay out of the ladies restroom."

I read about this a little while back, I already know what this is going to be like - it's going to be awful.

The setting and theme of HR just screams "I can be turned into flashy techno drivel", and they can use that in the trailers to sell the film to all the people who just like fast paced action scenes and films with no substance.
I don't even know why people are saying "Hm not sure about this". Have you not seen 99.9% of movies based on video games? They're awful, and the Deus Ex games (well 1 and HR anyway) are so damn great, and thought provoking, and funny that it just screams "RUIN ME BY BUTCHERING ME IN MOVIE FORM".

At best they'll put in a story that has some big teknologee words in it so it seems deep. If this film is anything more than the kind of random techno flash and stupid action scenes that I can picture in my crying mind then come back to this thread and remind me of this post, I will then post a video of me dancing to the Deus Ex theme in my underwear.

As long as it has the Deus Ex theme tune in there, it'll tick at least one box for me. I was so disappointed in the recent Sweeney film, partly because it didn't include the theme from the TV series.

It'll be like Tron but with more philosophy right

I'll go and see it.

The Resident Evil films are trout but I have a guilty pleasure for them. If this just has action, quips and some semblence of a philosophical undertone then that will be my low expectations met.

If it doesn't have the Icarus theme in it somewhere though then I will be disappointed.

Because lets face it the games were a bit stupid at times too (http://toadandlager.files.wordpress.com/2011/09/jensen-meme.jpg)

Also, I totally forgot that I've already decided how I want the film to turn out. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Js02m-7qHyE)
