-Survivor is still good entertainment with good characters and plotlines as well as possessing an excellent strategic layer for more cerebral viewers. And not fake. Incredibly misleading and manipulative, but not fake.

-Star Trek: Voyager, while by far the weakest Star Trek, was actually pretty good at times, and Janeway is a better captain than Kirk.

-MILF's opinion on the previous comment is wrong.

-Lost's ending made the entire series retroactively horrible.

-Legend of Korra is better than The Last Airbender.

-Family Guy hasn't ever been culturally relevant and its very occasional moments of brilliance do not justify its continued run.

Shows with actual people in them are usually too boring.

Ahahahahahahaha in what POSSIBLE world is Janeway a better captain than Kirk? I do agree it had a few good moments here and there (Year of Hell, Kes, B'Elanna, the prospect of Kes and B'Elanna hooking up) but you are clearly suffering from some horrible disease of the brain.

Lost's ending was actually rather good, especially when compared to a lot of other shows' endings, and answered most of the important questions about the series.

Yeah I said it.

Also Family Guy was actually worth watching in its original incarnation (this part appears to be an unpopular opinion), but hasn't been good since it was brought back (this part is not).

Laddy

Is Janeway a better character? No. Would I rather have Janeway as my Captain? Yes.

Dr. Katz is better than Home Movies (only by a slight margin).

Parks and Rec has the best character group dynamic on tv right now.

The Office didn't get worse after Michael left and it didn't go downhill. It just got different, and in a way still maintained the classic atmosphere of the show just with different circumstances. Additionally, Jan was the best character on the show.

I am not fond of the latest season of Dexter. In fact, I've found almost every season since Trinity to be nearly painful.

I don't care about all the hate Family Guy gets, I'll still watch it.

American Dad is gold and I find it hilarious.

South Park is mediocre at best.

The Man
11-30-2012, 05:45 AM
American Dad is indeed a much better show than it gets credit for being, although I haven't watched it in years. It's mostly because I am extremely lazy about watching things that other people I know aren't also interested in watching with me. I haven't even finished catching up on Game of Thrones yet and that's one of my favourite stories ever.

Family Guy was good before it got cancelled because Seth MacFarlane could be told no and he wasn't completely full of himself. Now he thinks he's a fucking genius so we have the same show in multiple incarnations.

Xena is a great show (for so many deliciously campy reasons).

American Horror Story is rather boring. Jessica Lange is great, though.

Dexter is quite up and down. Sometimes it's great, other times it feels like a battle to get through episodes.

I have never understood why people find crime shows like CSI, Numbers, Bones, NCIS and so on good.

Quindiana Jones

Xena is a god damn fantastic show. :colbert:

Night Fury

The Grey's Anatomy music event was fantastic and is one of the top 10 episodes of that show ever.

Juliet and Sawyer in Lost were one of the best couples.

Volkoff was the best villain in Chuck, and the best story.

Cancelling "Insomniac" with Dave Attell was the worst thing Comedy Central has ever done.

Friends is the worst abomination of a TV Sitcom that has ever been created.

South Park, The Simpsons and Family Guy are complete tripe with American Dad being the most bearable of that vein.

And MILF, you are wrong. After Picard, Janeway is by far the best Captain. Having two of her in Endgame is just brilliant.

The Office became crappy after season 4.
Old South Park is best (and only good) South Park.
The first season of Heroes is one of the greatest seasons of television, ever.
Crime dramas are boring and formulaic.
House only had 3 good seasons.

Ad's over the closing credits of tv shows is an abomination and disrespectful to it's creators.

The Office was much better after Micheal Scott left as it was no longer "Oh look at Micheal doing something awkwardly childish and selfish and politically incorect har har har" and actually became funny. Though it's started going downhill since they tried to make Andy the new awkwardly childish selfish and politically incorect guy, it was going great for one and a half seasons. (Before that it was good but the moments with Micheal Scott ruined it for me). Also Nate who now works in the warehouse is the best character.

Analogue tv was better than Digital as I prefer static to artefacts

I actually don't know a single person who liked (or at least, will admit to liking) Jack and Kate as a couple.

Ad's over the closing credits of tv shows is an abomination and disrespectful to it's creators. This is very true, but again, not really an unpopular opinion. I think the only people who would actually disagree with this are advertising execs.

With the other two opinions you're doing it right though.

I disagree, most people I have expressed this opinion to irl either say "I dont care" or "Youre crazy dude, it doesnt smurfing matter, who the hell watches credits?!" but then again some of my friends are uncultured swine

Buffy the Vampire Slayer was a terrible show.

Dexter is an awful show because they let Dexter have a conscience despite. If it was just about a serial killer who likes hunting other serial killers for the challenge, it would be a great show but all this family crap and kids, and love life damaged the shows ability to be good.

There has never been a G.I. Joe or Transformers reboot that can beat the original 80s classics.

Squidbillies is a terrible show

Aqua Teen Hunger Force is also largely a crappy show with only a handful of decent episodes.

The Dub of Cowboy Bebop, Tenchi Muyo!, and Fruits Basket is better than the original Japanese.

Daria is still the greatest high school dramedy ever.

Law & Order/CSI and all it's hellspawn spin-off need to die in a fire. In fact all law enforcement/law/forensics drama's need to be cancelled and swept away from television.

I'm catching up on the old episodes while watching this season. Watching the excellent season 3 in parallel to this one has just made it extra disappointing.

Ghost kid on a skateboard. That's all. The last 3 minutes took what was a god-awful, cringe-worthy episode and made it a laughing stock. I couldn't believe it.

People need to stop lumping Law & Order in with crap like CSI. Law & Order is an amazing show that deals with the many issues that plague our legal system. Nothing is black-and-white and L&O deals with that amazingly well.

No doubt the original is better than SVU but take this episode from SVU for example. Through the miracle of video editing, a man de-ages pornstars so they look like little girls. Now all the actors are consenting adults so this is perfectly legal and can be sold. However they badgered a known pedophile with this stuff so bad that he relapsed. He raped and killed a little girl.

So can you blame the video seller? Is it really different from the "violent video games made me do it" crowd? Is the whole process of selling virtual kiddy porn even morally acceptable, even if ti is legally?

That stuff is interesting. There really is no clear answer and it has intrigued me ever since I saw it.

Then there's also Criminal Intent. You guys don't be hating on Bobby Goren or I'll have to hurt you.

Now, time for my opinions.

Angel is NOT better than Buffy. Buffy at its best >>>>> Angel at its best. Angel only surpassed Buffy thanks to the truly atrocious Season 6 and 7.

Glory was the best Buffy Big Bad and is way better than Angels, Spike or The Mayor.

I don't hate Connor or Dawn.

I don't like Colonel O'Neill from Stargate SG-1. He betrayed Fifth and i will never forgive him.

The Batman was a pretty good show.

X-Men Evolution is superior to the 90s X-Men in practically every way.

NCIS is amazing, though. I only started watching it once I got into France because it's one of the few shows in English, but it's actually really good. It's essentially a pisstake of forensic dramas, and I love it. All the characters are just complete exagerrations of every stereotypical character you get in forensic dramas. xD

Previously on X-Men - YouTube (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZfmqSOr2-NY)

The voice-acting alone in X-Men TAS is enough to turn me off the show. There were like, three good voice-actors, a handful of mediocre voice-actors, and a crapload of amazingly bad voice-actors.

Good voice-actors include Wolverine, Apocalypse and Beast. But they don't make up for STORM, HAM OF HAMS, COMMANDER OF DA EL-E-MENTS!

I also liked how Evo did its own thing. It didn't try to emulate the comics whereas TAS pretty much just re-used comic storylines. Evolution was all unique, with cool concepts like Magneto unveiling the existence of mutants to the world, X-23, and so-on.
