That's right, it's time for another of FFIX Choco Boy's completely inconsequential threads about some random anime/book series/movie/etc in The Lounge! This time, we will be discussing the older cartoons. Anything from before 2008, no matter what station. As anybody between the ages of 16 and 25 can tell you, the cartoon business drastically changed around this time (and in most of their opinions, it turned into trout).

So, what were your favorites? The best channel to watch? How much did you watch? Do you miss them? Do you hold any hope out for the old style shows coming back in force?

I watched a lot of Nickelodeon and Cartoon Network as a kid. And I mean A LOT. Most of the ones I loved watching aren't even shown anymore: CatDog, Hey Arnold, Rocko's Modern Life, Doug, Angry Beavers, Courage the Cowardly Dog, so many of them. And don't even get me started on the Fox Box, of 4KidsTV, as they started to call it when it turned to crap. I would sit down every Saturday morning and watch it beginning to end, no matter what was on. Hell, I even watched Mew Mew Power and Winx Club, back when the show was even worth watching.

I really miss the old cartoons they used to show, and I hope they bring them back, because I would still watch them as an adult. But I don't hold any hope that they will.

I've been re-watching Hey Arnold! on Youtube and I amazed at just how incredibly mature and downright black the humor can be now that I can catch it, so it definitely earned new respect from me.

Also, Spongebob. Back when it was good.

I have too many old favourites. xD I have acquired many of them in the past few years, and sit and watch them when I feel like it. Nothing compares to the rubbish we used to watch. xD

Dexter's Lab. Powerpuff Girls. Courage the Cowardly Dog. Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy. SAMURAI JACK. Hey Arnold. Angry Beavers.

Maaaan. Love it.

ITT: A bunch of cartoons that I've heard of but never seen because I'm apparently the only person in the world to have grown up without Nickelodeon/Cartoon Network

The Simpsons (obv season 11 or 12ish and before) and Futurama best cartoons forever and ever bye

Mon Colle Knights (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mon_Colle_Knights) on Fox was always fun to watch as a kid. Or the 90's Spider-man cartoon, or the original TMNT, or hell even Inspector Gadget! :D

I used to watch the Disney Afternoon every day. Gummi Bears, Duck Tales, Chip & Dale Rescue Rangers, Darkwing Duck, Tail Spin, Goof Troop. I watched them all.

As I got older I graduated to Kids WB where I watched Tiny Toons, Animaniacs, Freakazoid, Pinky & the Brain. I think Batman and Superman were on that too.

And of course you have your Saturday morning favorites like X-Men and Spider-Man. I still watch those shows.

For Nicktoons my favorites were Ren & Stimpy and Rocko's Modern Life.

I watched too many damn cartoons.

When I read " Old Cartoons " I honestly thought the old Mickey Mouse cartoons and Betty Boop. :/

Hey, those work, too. At least it's not the stupid trout that's on today.

A few of those shows are familiar but I'd thought I'd chuck a few classic British-aired cartoons into the mix. A few of them were probably aired stateside first but we got all the decent ones I think...

Dogtanian and the Three Muskehounds - I actually have the first series on DVD... what of it?
Thundercats
The Raccoons - What the hell were those weird pink things?
Ducktales
Bertha
Penny Crayon
Count Duckula - Greatest theme tune ever
Bravestarr
Jamie and the Magic Torch
Raggydolls
Teenage Mutant Hero Turtles
Dungeons and Dragons
Superted
Jimbo
Trapdoor
Pole Position
Cities of Gold
Inspector Gadget
He-Man
Bananaman
Family Ness
Dangermouse
Around the World with Willy Fog

Agree ! Though Adventure Time is okay. :jess:

I feel like cartoons have been rather silly and dumb since the late 90's though. It's the 90's started out great with cartoons like Duck Tales and then it started to get stupid, weird and strange fast. It's was more about what kind of stuff you can slip through that radar than actual effort and quality being put into the show.
