How old do y'all feel?

Let's talk about 90s FPSes, the Greatest Generation of Shooters.

I still itch for Doom and Quake and Unreal frequently unlike any other shooters that have come since.

Quake II was a bit before me. III was my first FPS and it definitely has a special place in my heart. Lol. Although I think it came out very early 00s, RtCW is still my favorite FPS. If only people still played :-/

I always hear people say that RTCW had great MP. I only ever played Enemy Territory but I still think it's one of the best class- and objective-based MP shooters ever. It was great for big LAN parties, too.

Q3 was fun but my friends never got into it much. I liked UT99 better for the most part, I think the slower pace made it more accessible for me - I'm not twitchy enough for the crazy trick jumps people did in Quake. It's damn impressive to see what people pulled off in that though. You just can't get that kind of stuff in modern FPSes.

The core was pretty much the same in RTCW and ET. Well, actually I guess not, there was more additions than probably CoD has had in its 10(?) iterations. :p In terms of strategic differences, the maps are larger in ET, there is no escorting vehicles in RtCW, and no satchel charge(or covert ops) either. If something had to be blown up, it was dynamite or nothing. I guess still kind of hard to imagine without playing. But more fun in my opinion. I prefer smaller maps though.

I never played UT but I loved the twitchy gameplay of Quake and RtCW/ET. Adds a lot to the challenge in my opinion. Never could trick jump though. XD

That's actually very strange that it happens to be today because a couple of coworkers found a random copy of the game in perfect condition earlier. It was in an abandoned cubical!
