Party stores, bars capitalize on Mayan calendar, end of the world (http://www.abcactionnews.com/dpp/lifestyle/food/party-stores-bars-capitalize-on-mayan-calendar-end-of-the-world-wews1355348287641)

End of the World Party (http://www.partycheap.com/End_of_the_World_Party_s/903.htm)

Apparently, while some people are so scared of the supposed "end of the world" that they are cosidering either committing suicide or crawling up into a little cubby hole with all sorts of emergency supplies (think Doomsday Preppers on the National Geographic Channel), others want to use the supposed "last day on Earth" to party like there's no tomorrow. Many party stores across the country are capitalizing on this, and since the world will supposedly end in one week from today, some people are planning to throw "end of the world parties" intended to be "the mother of all parties" or "the party to end all parties." I even saw last week in Atlantic City when I went there that there is a place in one of the hotels that is planning an end of the world party on Thursday the 20th.

And considering that the Mayans hailed from Mexico, it would be best fitting that the food at these parties should be Mexican, including tacos, burritos, nachos, and other Mexican dishes, for one final fiesta before the world (supposedly) ends.

I'm sorry, but I just get a kick out of this whole thing. Are any of you planning to go to an "end of the world party?"

I plan on getting drunk like I do every Friday. My life is a god damned mess. :(

Looks like the 21st is the last Friday before Christmas, so it looks like I probably am. At least I won't notice any earthquakes.

At first thought, an end of the world party would be fun. But it looks like this stuff is teetering on lines of Jonestown and that freaks me out.

Yeah they're having all sorts of parties for that around here.

I plan on going to bed early and getting ready for work the next day. (Which is my birthday :p )

I kind of wish the doomsday would come for those who actually believed in it, but not us others. That would be crazy amusing.

Also this is an amazingly rare thread where SuperMillionaire actually posted a tiny bit of information about himself. You don't see that every day!

I never understood the "suicide" thing. I mean, if the world ends, you're dead anyway. If not, well, you'd kinda feel stupid.

But, nah, not going to be partying. I won't even be laughing at the people making a big deal of it all. I'll be at work, getting through the Holiday rush and beating up the looters who attempt to hurt my fellow coworkers while taking advantage of the end of the world craziness.

So in what timezone is the world ending, or is it kind of like a circular one, or what?

I'm guessing once it's the 21st in all of America. Only country that matters and all.

Wouldn't it like, end in the Mayan time zone though? Wherever that even was. Like South America?

"Scientists discover meteor to hit earth on the 22nd, world spends last day hungover and all fast food chains closed, no more party supplies available, headline writers phone it in"

Wouldn't it be ironic if the end of the world is brought about by the panic incited by its prediction?

Also, inb4 the punch is poisoned at those end-of-the-world parties.

Well this will be the first weekend of my vacation, so I'm probably just going to get completely fucked up.

So now that 12/21/12 is almost entirely behind us, what will all the doomsday nutters move on to next, I wonder?

My wager is a new date for the rapture.

Some stranger on the street asked me how I planned on dying tonight. What a weirdo.

What are you talking about? We all died and was recreated with memories of the past. It's sort of like last thursdayism, except with fridays.
