Shonen Jump Article Unveils Lightning's New Outfit

Lightning's outfit in the upcoming Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII has debuted in Shonen Jump. Although not much has been truly revealed about the game, this is our first visual of Lightning and it is a step in the right direction in terms of news for the game. Next up to be revealed will be the first game trailer. It's certainly quite unlike any of her previous outfits, with a leather bustier, pauldrons, and a cape. It certainly invokes memories of other science fiction franchises such as the Matrix.

So, what do you guys think? Like it? Hate it? Discuss in the forums! Keep in mind, her costume is customize-able in the game so it will certainly be interesting on how that develops.

Her default outfit certainly looks very...gothic. Very gothic.

Also, her sword looks very different from the standard fare were used to seeing. It's like some weird, red sword?
Interested to see the whole customisable element as well. Possible DLC like XIII-2?

Usually don't mind capes, but you're right, she certainly doesn't need one, definitely doesn't need pauldrons.

She doesn't need to be an absolute tomboy though.....just looks like they're over doing the costume.

I'm certainly not complaining! I think it's a brave new turn for costume design. And I agree with Dr.rydrum, I like the post-apocalyptic nature of it which reflects the state of the world in XIII-3.

I don't really like the revealing costumes (as it gets way over done in some cases), but at least give us something decent if more clothes are going to be put on her :)


Besides, the black on her reminds me of a dragoon...that just doesn't seem to fit with lightning....

I think she looks just fine. Like a high ranking death knight. I get so tired of short shorts and bikini tops (especially in kuja's case). I guess I just prefer more fantasy style clothing in my final FANTASY video games.

I thought it was Cloud at first glance :)). I've pretty much learned to expect the unexpected when it comes to FF costumes. Let's see how this one fares during battles. The leg cape thingies >.<
