View Full Version : What is the most time you have ever put into one game?

I just saw a screenshot of a guy's Steam and he had 10,000 hours in Team Fortress 2. That doubles my 5,000 in World of Warcraft.

What is the most time you've ever put into one game? Guesses are okay if you don't know

Probably 200 or so in fire emblem.

Only 100 hours on a rpg, don't quite remember which, might have been FFX, because of those bloody long sidequests.

Bolivar

Probably Counter-Strike 1.6 but the majority of that was before Steam started tracking playtime.

One playthrough of DQVIII might be the champion for me at 130 hours.

But as far as tracked, I probably average 300 hours on Final Fantasy XII.

150 Hours on a play through of Xenogears.

I'm not sure of total time on a single game, but saddly it probably goes to Digimon World 2. The levels of grining one puts into that game is insane. I'm probably 200+ hours, yet its not really a very good game. :p

I played World of Warcraft from November 2006 to around April or May 2012.

I once made a rough estimate of my playtime in Halo 3; I think it came out to around three solid months of play.

192 hours on Final Fantasy XII on my first playthrough, and over 200 in Skyrim so far.

about 400+ in FF12 if I count all my saves with 20~200 hours on them. Dear god that game.
about 200 in disgaea 2
about 100-200 in Dark Souls...
Probably over 300 hours in a single pokemon game (if I add up the multiple saves it would probably be over 600)
LOTS of hours in R&C 3

Not counting MMOs because they would too easily win.

Steam didn't track hours when I used to play CS1.6 but I put hours and hours and hours into that game.

Other than that: Zelda Link to the Past (it was my Elder Scrolls at age 6); Final Fantasy VII, VIII, and IX; Xenogears; Oblivion.

Oblivion is probably the one I can actually track the hours in and I know there's at least 100 between the two characters I played the longest. It made me sad that I didn't get into Skyrim nearly as much (~60 hours). I still want to do Morrowind since everyone says it's even better.

World of Warcraft, been playing for 8+ years and counting. If I add up all the /played on my characters it's well over a year by now.

/played racked up like, five total days on my Shaman.

I have a depressingly long playtime on Dark Souls between two characters too. And there's no signs of that slowing down. SO CLOSE TO NEW GAME PLUS :aimsun:

Tons of hrs in WoW, not even sure. /embarrassed

but I must also take every chance to mention,

D&D - through various editions I've played at least 8-20 hrs almost every week for the past 12 years.

so.... like 5k-7.5k conservatively.

probably ff7
i have a save that's stuck at 99:59 or whatever
and i'm not counting replays or the few months where i kept playing it from the beginning without a memory card

I didn't think of FFVII, but that's definitely up there as well. My longest playthrough is around 70-80 hours, and I've beaten the game numerous times which is a 35 hour minimum commitment. When you add in all the unfinished playthroughs it's definitely a contender.

Levian
12-28-2012, 07:53 PM
I think FFVII would be the ultimate winner there, with probably around 200 hours or more. No idea how many times I've replayed that game or watched friends play it.

Hours spent on EoFF or facebook would probably be even scarier to look at, though.

I remember spending about 15 minutes playing Shaq-Fu on the SNES in the nineties.

Anyone who has played this game will know this feels like 4,000 hours of extreme torture...

Alpha Centauri.

Wait for real? Because if so you're my new favorite person on the forum.

I used to have "Alpha Centauri" Saturdays where my boyfriend and two of his friends and I would sit around ALL DAY and play Alpha Centauri. We would listen to music and generally go insane. BEST TIMES OF MY LIFE.

Added: Also, I played it A LOT growing up. Alpha Centauri is just a constant in my life.

The top spot for me would definitely go to Warcraft 3:Reign of Chaos. Put in well over 3000 hours into that bad boy and still play it every now and then (almost always custom games). The next game would be a close call between FFVII and Halo 2. Both games must be in the hundreds of hours range conservatively. There must be a tonne of RPGs that I've gone 100+ hours with (Other FF games, Demon Souls, Persona games, Bethesda RPGs, etc.) The next games would probably be the Call of Duty games since COD4:Modern Warfare. Play them pretty consistently until the next game comes out :kakapo:

Can't forget Golden Eye 007 (N64) ;) Must have a few hundred hours with it too!

Minecraft. I spent about 4 months learning all the controls. After that I spent 3 more months playing the game like a pro. When the Xbox 360 edition came out I wasted nearly every day for 3 months on that game because I loved the controls and game play.

It isn't as bad as it may sound since I would usually spend 20 minutes to 2 hours during each play through.
I don't know specifics on time, though.

FFX: 300/400
Dark Souls: 450/500
GTA Vice City: 300/400
CoD MW2: 300

I don't own that many games, but some of these I just know inside out times 10.

100 hours for Starcraft I.
100 hours for Diablo II.
100 hours for Counter-Strike.
100 hours for Madden.
84 exact hours for Call of Duty. (Not counting Zombies, so that is like atleast 40 more hours lolololol.)
50 hours on Brave Fencer Musashi.
100 hours on Xenogears.

800 hours for Final Fantasies.

Yeah there are A LOT of other games I've played...and this post actually makes me sad about my life.

My Civs II, III, and IV times all must be well upwards of 1,000 hours apiece. SMAC probably not quite as high but close. Hundreds into HoI2/Darkest Hour, FFVII a few hundred, and some pretty damned hefty times into Morrowind and X-Com, though I'd hesitate to venture exactly how much.

e; Back in the day I played some fucking stupid amounts of Red Alert 2 as well. God alone knows how much but it's one of my all-time most played for sure. C&C might actually be my most played series ever aside from Civ.

escobert
12-30-2012, 06:27 AM
had a few thousand in GW1. only at like 500 in GW2. I had to have had thousands and thousands of hours into Diablo 2. For a console game I know I had about 160 hours in FFVII on my first playthrough. and I played it god knows how many times.

Assume I played chess for an hour a day since I was 12 and I'm almost 31 at this post. I don't want to calculator right now.
Then Final Fantasy 3 for an hour a day in 1994 to 1997.

I've beaten Mega Man Legends 1 over 60 times (I play it about five times a year) and that game takes about 8 hours or so to beat unless you don't want all the weapons.

I had actually gotten almost 500 hours on Pokemon Pearl through collecting Pokemon and playing with my friend, which is weird because I liked Gold/Silver/Crystal way more and only put about 50 hours into that game.

Got about 94 hours on Breath of Fire III once. Usually I beat it in about 40. (This is another game I've beaten to hell and back many times)

Got over 99 hours on Dead or Alive 2 Ultimate. I think my clock on it might actually be maxed out. If not then it's close.

Not to mention all those hours for all those years that I played all the Street Fighter games. I've probably played those more than anything.

Talking about multiple games now? Let's see here.

700 hours in Civ IV.
200 in FF Tactics Advance. (No shame.)
Several hundred in Paradox Interactive games.
I played stupid amounts of Starcraft: Brood War back in the day. Gotta be close to 500 hours at the very least.
Probably a couple hundred in SMAC-- this is my favorite game of all time but I never put as much time into this as I did with Civ because I never could get multiplayer working. :whimper:
Lots and lots of Pokemon, of course.

Alpha Centauri.

Probably either this or one of a million random RPGs I practically wasted away in front of.

I played World of Warcraft from November 2006 to around April or May 2012.

Consecutively.

Games by Paradox Interactive have a certain way of turning hours into minutes, so although I have no idea how many hours I've played Europa Universalis 3 it's safe to say it's far into the 4-digit zone(I'm thankful I'm never going to find out ) I don't have any staggering playtimes in any single FF, but as a whole it's probably far into the 4-digit zone there as well. Other than that, my playtimes in Morrowind and WoW are about 800 hours too.

I've spent hundreds of hours of Football Manager, yet the biggest achievement I've had is winning the Premier League/FA Cup double. Managing big teams gets boring so I always end up resigning and bringing a lower league team to greatness.

If I'm going to count hours accumulated over the years, I suppose FFIX and AoE2 are somewhere up there.

If I added up all my WoW character's playtimes, including an estimate on my two original toons that were deleted years ago when my account was hacked, I have over a year of playtime. My current main toon has over 4 months of playtime alone which I didn't start until the ICC patch and was away for a year on deployment.

Most of you will probably think I'm insane for this, but the game I have probably put the most time into is Final Fantasy VIII. I put above fifty hours into the game nearly in every play through, and I have beaten it many times. It was my first final fantasy and what brought me into the rpg genre, so the game holds a lot of nostalgia for me. That game is sort of a happy place for me, so I always play it when I need cheering up.

I have played through Metal Gear Solid 1 probably more times than Final Fantasy VIII. It was the game I first played after being VIII the first time, and I got obsessed. I know back in second grade I got to the point where I could easily beat the game twice in one day if I wanted to. This is probably a close second to Final Fantasy VIII.

Tied with Metal Gear Solid is Xenosaga. I love that series (yes, even II), and I've played through the first one on multiple occasions. I really don't have any accurate estimates of how long I've put behind each of these games, but it is easily over two hundred hours for each game.

I've played FFIX over 20 times. Of those, roughly 75% have been full, 100% complete playthroughs (barring Excalibur II, of course) taking around 100 hours each.

Easily Morrowind and Skyrim. I have 130 hours clocked in on Skyrim. Havent purchased any of the DLC yet. I remember I had a single 200 hour file on Morrowind on the original Xbox, on top of all the other files I had on Xbox and PC in that game.

The longest Final Fantasy was probably X. I literally had a 100+ hour file on that. I think its the only one that even came close to 100 hours in the series. I remember Xenogears being pretty long as well.

Ultima Online, which I played way back around 2000 for a couple of years, and then off-and-on for another couple years later (including a free player-run shard just a couple of years ago). I have no idea how many hours I put into it. 500? 1000? 2000? I cannot begin to guess. Second would probably be EverQuest, which I played obsessively for about 6-8 months one year.

For single player games, I would have to say Final Fantasy VII, which I played through multiple times in my teenage years. And for only one playthrough, I spent well over 100 hours on Final Fantasy XII.

Very tricky to say as most of the games I spent most of my time on don't track this kind of thing. Still, it would probably go something like this...

1. Final Fantasy XIV
2. Chuck Yeager Air Combat
3. Football Manager [year]
4. Final Fantasy VII
5. Civilization IV
6. Final Fantasy XI
