Yes, there was another EoFF group. No, we're not using that one anymore. Yes, this is the new one. This is so we can actually have active administrators who are also current staff members, and possibly run some fun gaming events and the like. :) Come join us!

That's a bit tricky actually since anyone can change their display name on Steam whenever they want. I'm particularly bad about this.

I don't think it changes the URL for people's steam profile page though, so if anyone wants to post the link to theirs we can edit them into the OP to track it all.

So another (updated) Steam group was created to replace the old Steam group but is no longer replacing the old Steam group because of old members who are no longer around EoFF and probably aren't going to ever be again. This effectively eliminates the entire purpose of creating a second, updated Steam group.

Is that the gist of it?

The problem is we haven't as yet been able to track down the man with the ability to give us actual access to the old Steam group to create events and the like. Which is something we want to start doing so we can all get together and play some vidya. So I went ahead and made a new group because getting that access was proving difficult at best.

Now BoB is chiming in a couple of weeks after the fact with some belly aching about people who aren't even on the forum anymore. Frankly, I couldn't give a crap about them, but he thinks he can get a hold of the admin of the old group so we will let him try. I don't care what path we have to take to get there so long as the end result of playing games together with other members is achieved.

Dota would be great, but some may have to wait a while for the beta invite. But it's well integrated into Steam as far as getting your friends together for party games and closed custom games.

I'm also gonna put out there that I'm willing to spend a few bucks to get an easy game for all of us to play, but definitely not no $20 especially not for no zombie game.

It's going to be F2P and supported with the same sort of item buying as TF2 has right now. It's just not "officially" released yet so you still need either an invite, or to buy one of their promotional packs.

I wasn't aware it was gonna be F2P in the end. :3 Either way, I was just amused at the concept of having to wait for an invite. :p My friend has about 7 invites, since they just keep sending him more, despite him not being able to shift the last batch. Also Mr Shauna frequents a lot of TF2 trading sites where the invites are practically being given away, since everyone seems to have the same problem.

Basically, if DotA is going to be an option for EoFF gaming nights, it won't be too difficult to get everyone interested an invite. :3

Shauna - I'm only speaking from experience of one friend who's been waiting a month or two for an invite and just got it a few days ago. Not all of us are as plugged in as you.

And I never bought L4D2 on sales so it's $20 right now. For a game about zombies.

I think Torchlight 2 is a wonderful idea and I'd actually be willing to spend the $20 on that. How many can be in one game?

You silly people who go to bed early/don't live in North America (the only real continent). I set up another one, same day, at 4:00pm EST. You can just check the time in the event too and it will display whatever your time zone is set to if you don't want to do the conversion in yourself. If anyone wants it moving it an hour or two either way is more convenient we can probably do that as well.

One game down with Pike, Sephex, and my 11 year old brother in law who lives pretty far north and has the ping to prove it. A lot of fun though except when things rapidly spiraled out of control during the second finale attempt. That was just crushing.

And Shauna, had I seen you on I could have sent an invite for you to join. Though the game was actually full, and I probably don't want to know what my wife would say had I kicked her brother. :D

Second planned game was a bit of a bust as I was the only one to show up, but still, one great game in the day isn't too bad, and it's just the first event.

Any thoughts on a game for next time? I was thinking TF2 is a possibility since it has multiple play modes. Depending on numbers we could hit up Mann Vs. Machine, crash an active server, or just find an empty one to dick around in. Another L4D2 event will be inevitable of course, but I'd like to spread the love around and not have Bolivar feeling left out since he's the only person on Steam that doesn't own it. :p

Same name as here and I wouldn't mind firing up some CS GO since Vivi seems to be having some fun with it and Valve multiplayer games are always worth checking up on every once in a while with all the free updates they make.

I'd love to get a game event going since, despite how enthusiastically people claim to love Valve and Steam on here, we can never seem to generate more than a nominal amount of interest.
