I'm naive.

I live in an apartment complex that requires a fob and a code to get into and my housemate is a complete tit who keeps losing his keys so a lot of the time I have to leave the apartment door unlocked so he can get in and out. I wouldn't be naive enough to believe we won't get robbed but when we're on a middle floor and our apartment is right the way down the far end of a hallway with no sort of fire escape or other exit nearby I wouldn't rank our chances that high outside of getting untrustworthy neighbours who break in.

Which in hindsight happened when I was a kid so... yea... should probably get said housemate to stop being lazy and get a keycut.

The door is locked pretty much all the time, unless I go out without my keys, then I make sure to unlock the door so I don't lock myself out. You see, the handle doesn't lock on itself from the inside as if it was locked, so it's quite easy to forget that the door is actually locked when you go out, unless you unlocked it before.

I'm in between naive and paranoid, whenever I am home in the summer it's unlocked. But it's cold out so it's locked and shut tightly.

Since I live in a house a ways off from anything except for the much bigger and fancier house in front of mine blocking it, the door is unlocked.

I'm not paranoid; I live in a city.

I live with a paranoid person so both front and back doors are always locked.

NO ONE MAY ENTER UNLESS INVITED :stare:

My mom will sometimes forget to lock the door before going to bed and it drives me insane.

Hey everyone. I'm sitting on your couch right now. And I must say, you shouldn't lie about locking your doors. :stare:

Never. Literally never. Except at night, and even then I forget sometimes. Same with my car.

But in case any criminals and/or stalkers are reading, I have a killer bloodthirsty pit bull for a built-in alarm system, so stay the hell out.

I always keep it locked. Not out of paranoia or anything, but in case I would forget to lock it before I go to sleep or something.

Also, somehow it helps me feel more like I'm in a private place lol.

At my student house, it's one of those doors that locks when you close it anyway, there's a secondary lock that is never on though. You can't get in without a key.

At my parents house we have to have the front door locked because my dog is an escapologist and likes to open doors all the time.

At my house, it's a Yale lock which as Tara has mentioned, they lock automatically because essentially they're a latch with a key. Ironically it's a valid term to say "The door is on the latch" when you engage a small locking mechanism what prevents the tumbler from being turned with the "latch" component retracted so the front door stays open.

At my mom's it's one of those upvc doors that double glazing firms install. It has like 6 locks built in to it which engage on a lift of the door handle and locks with a key both inside and out. However when people are awake and in the house (during the day for example) the door is often unlocked.

My door has a latch. My mum often leaves her door unlocked.

If I go out and come back, I tend to leave the front door open when I get back. However, this doesn't happen too often, so most of the time the door is always locked.

Just because you keep your door locked when you're home doesn't mean you're paranoid. Sweeping generalization.

We keep our door locked, and it's muscle habit for me to lock the door as soon as I've walked in it.

But, to be fair, if we WERE paranoid, no one would blame us after that time we had this random stranger walk into our house when it was open, realize they were in the wrong house, and walk back out.

Wait what? What was the person looking for?

I live in Poland

Is this a good thing or a bad thing in regard to door safety?

Doors are finally being made available to the Polish population for the first time in Summer 2013. Pre-order yours now!

When I'm gone or sleeping, the doors are locked.

When I'm awake at home? All challengers accepted. I want to meet the person desperate enough to rob someone during the daytime when their car is in the driveway.

It's not quite "paranoia" with me -- I have been broken into and robbed before. I live downtown.

So all the doors and windows are locked.

Currently I am living with my dad and he never ever locks the door ever.

So no, the door is never locked. :gator:
