I did a search, and I'm surprised that there's no previous thread for this series!

Does anyone besides Miriel and I watch this show?

Did anyone see/get caught up on the Christmas special?

What do you think will happen to the show now, after the demise of the second hottest character on the show?

Considering how big this show is in the UK and Ireland I've never actually watched it. I've read a couple of synopsis and seen a few stills and it just doesn't strike me as very interesting. :S

What's the deal with it? Sell it to me!

I smurfing love the show but even I think that the Christmas episode pretty much ruined everything and they should have just wrapped up the series instead of trying to do another season with two main characters dead. Balls.

Also, Shlup watches the show too so that makes 3 of us!

It's beautiful. One of the biggest highlights of the show is just the beauty of the scenery, the environment, the clothes.
Maggie Smith is perfect in it.
Soap opera type drama coupled with British restraint makes for a hilarious contrast.

The music is freaking stunning. When I was in the hospital, Miriel was the one who suggested the series to me. Within five minutes of the first episode, I wrote on her profile about how beautiful the music is. Just. Can't even.

If you like period pieces and costumes, you'll love this show.

Sybil and Matthew were my two favourite characters. (Followed by Isobel and Violet.) And now it's like...where can they go? What can they do? A lot of people on the internet are like, "WE DON'T KNOW MATTHEW IS REALLY DEAD."

Uh, yeah. His eyes were open and unmoving, he was BLEEDING OUT OF HIS EARS FOR CHRIST SAKE.

FINALLY. I smurfing love this show. I've watched every episode. Though this years Christmas special was abit of a downer though if you ask me...Matthew died! Oh come on, it was going so well! The worst thing was, as soon as I saw him driving fast down the road without a care in the world, I knew it would end badly. I smurfing knew it. I was well pissed.

I really like Carson. He's such a traditionalist, and he has this way of showing disapproval without stating it.

No.

Call The Midwife is way better.

(I understand they're very different, by CTM is the only period drama I got into)

Interesting Family Fact! During the war, my Gran was sent to Highclere Castle (where Downton Abbey is filmed) with all the other war children for several months.

As for the show itself, I don't really watch it (period dramas aren't my thing) but everyone who does raves about it. It's got a great cast of British actors.

That "Christmas special" can suck my dick. I mostly watch the show for Maggie Smith and the building homo eroticism.

Homo eroticism for who?

Dude, Jimmy and Thomas are definitely going to get funky eventually.

Why did you ask me a question and then answer it? xD

Well I didn't know if you meant anyone else!

Cos the men in this show are just a little homo erotic in general.

Ah yes, we Brits love to portray ourselves like this in our TV dramas. Hence the inevitable stereotype...
