I have no idea how to make sprites! You have to draw each frame for them for their actions, right? Pixely or more cel-shaded?!

xD Do you actually want to? I mean I'll totally follow through, but I'm not joking about the "terrible" part! I don't want you to spend tons of time on great graphics only to be disappointed by the game! If you feel up to it, yeah, frame by frame would be best! The art style would be totally up to you.

They should add other non- FF VII characters into it, to cater to the rest of the fanbases. It would be nice to see Sabin vs Zell Rinoa vs Garnet Zidane vs Locke Setzer vs Ace Selphie vs Rikku Yuna vs Rydia etc, etc, etc.

Tekken Tag 2 had up to 50 characters, so it is possible to just drop in anybody with a hint of a popularity.

What I'd love to see is each characters special moves. All fighting games have their signature moves that completely decimate the field.

Tifa's could be Final Heaven, Sephiroth's could be meteor.. hmmm..

I have seen a lot of people with this impression of Aerith. Fortunately, there are fan works that portray her as just as much of an action girl as Tifa. Here are some examples:

Despite the fact that she is considered as a supportive character, these portrayals do not show her as out of character -- she does not lose her femininity or her personality by being a little tougher in action scenes rather than a simple healer.

It would be nice of materical would be in the game and let you customize characters in certain ways. Not necessarily in as great detail as FF7 let you, but you could be able to equip a limited number of them to gain certain attacks or effects.

The effects shouldn't be game-breaking I guess, but they should be noticable. For example, you could have Restore materia which would make you regenerate health a tiny bit faster when the character was swapped out in tag battles, or vitality plus to gain a tiny bit more defence, or hp plus to gain a tiny bit more health.

I also want all limit breaks to return in one form or another, either as a bit more difficult to execute combo finishers, or as gauge-using supers or mini-supers.

I really want satellite beam and finishing touch as well, for example, in addition to their lv4 limits.

Yeah I think it would be a bit impractical to have them have all their limit breaks as supers, but could probably be spaced out over normal specials and super moves. Cloud's Cross slash, for example, could be something like Fei Long's Rekka-Ken three part move, and Climhazzard could be like a Shoryuken style thing and so on. And then Omnislash could be a three bar super or something. although I do think this is all probably far past our reach of actually creating, but it's fun to imagine it anyway

Yeah. I guess limits level 1 and 2 would generally be best to implement as good but difficult non-gauge moves. while most lv3 limits would probably require spending some gauge.

I agree that we totally need Big Bro. And cloud's wall market dress totally needs to be unlockable. In fact, all outfits seen used by characters in all the games and in AC should probably be unlockable, as well as a few original designs just for the new game.

How do you guys feel about being able to change between weapons? Visual change only, or should weapons have additional effects attached to them? I know I've always had a lot of fun in Soul Calibur with unlocking powerful weapons and customizing things there.

Cait Sith's slots limit break would be pretty difficult to figure out how to get it to work, unless you would just have the various effects be their own specials. Getting it to be truly random would be pretty funny, though. Vincent's limit break would also be kind of cool to figure out what to do with. Have them all be one shot transformation/moves? Or have it like in the game where he's like that for the rest of the round and gets an entirely new but small moveset for each different limit.

I also think Barrett would be a cool character to mess around with, make him kind of like Gen from street fighter in that he gets a different moveset where one of his specials switches him between his long range weapons and his melee weapons. Make him a switchup character. although I should say I'm not suggesting we actually attempt any of this because it would be hard as a motherfucker, rather just thinking about what would be sweet in a proper FFVII 2D fighter.

Adding in a lot of characters or backdrops wouldn't be super hard as long as I fix up a decent engine. It's Dr. Assenov the majority of the burden falls on with that, but of course neither of us are obligated to put more work into it than we feel like. :p

I haven't looked into it all that heavily yet, as I am still just trying to hammer away at this drawing, XD

My hubby was so excited by this idea of making an FF fighting game that he is making me learn C++. I don't know how far I'll end up going, but this seems pretty fun so far :D

Rosso (bowgun) ...

Rosso's weapon is no real bowgun it is a twinlily with a machine gun. So technically also a Gun-Blade which is held like a bowgun when shot.
