Here’s some quick updates about what’s going on with Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn (http://home.eyesonff.com/content/category/101-final-fantasy-xiv.html):

• Producer Naoki Yoshida has started his international media tour and is currently in the US. However, we will not be getting any updates from this tour until it’s entirely over, and all information will be released at once (http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/threads/60092-Yoshi-please-have-vacation-afterwards!?p=958851#post958851). Yoshi-P’s only making three quick stops and two of them are in California (the other’s in London), so that shouldn’t be long. And according to the developers’ blog (http://na.finalfantasyxiv.com/blog/post/198), Yoshi-P has made a new gameplay video for this trip that includes the PS3 version!

• Speaking of the developers’ blog, last week the entire dev team participated in a half-day play test (http://na.finalfantasyxiv.com/blog/post/191) of the upcoming beta version of FFXIV. Check out the screenshots from the test in the rest of this article.

• There’s an Eorzea Haiku Contest (http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/threads/60244) going on in the FFXIV official forums, though it's only open to PAL territory players. The 30 winners will receive a beta key for ARR!

• Square-Enix is also hosting a cosplay contest (http://eu.finalfantasyxiv.com/cosplay/) with a Final Fantasy XIV theme. This one is also only for EU players (where's the NA love?). One lucky winner will receive a 5-night trip to Japan to tour Square-Enix’s headquarters! Five runners up will win a copy of Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn and a related goodie bag.

"Screw you guys; I'm just going to chill at the Adventurers' Guild."

• As we reported yesterday (http://home.eyesonff.com/content/2361-confirmed-additional-content-available-early-beta-phases.html), the gladiator class will be available to start off the beta, unlike in the alpha version. This is due to new content being made available which will make a tank more necessary for parties.

I expect more information to be released around the end of this week, or next week at the latest. Stay tuned!

There are people out there with far too much time and money to invest in such things. We'd never win. :(

That, and I hate "dressing up" with a passion.
