In no particular order, had difficulty deciding between Neon Bible and Funeral but Neon Bible won in the end, and the last square may have been influenced by my recent listening to the Handsome Furs but I find myself wishing I had changed it to something Bright Eyesy or Animal Collectively.

@ shorty:

had to pick between transatlanticism and give up. give up barely edged out.

@ bunny:

i don't, but human equation is a fantastic listen.

Shorty

Give Up edged out for me because there are some songs on there I just don't care for. Less so on Transat.

I like MANY of the songs on Funeral, but Neon Bible has more that hit home for me!

i liked zero songs on neon bible

absolutely zero

Shorty

7/11 for me! and the rankings of those songs are enough for them to get into the top nine albums. Funeral is good, but Neon Bible has more "favorite songs" of mine.

how could you not like keep the car running, at the very minimum?!

Shorty

Fight Off Your Demons is also on there also perhaps d&g.

Jowy

Shorty

rob just purchase tt decks until you get back to 666

We can all circlejerk between Alkaline Trio, Brand New, Arcade Fire and Radiohead. I would be happy with that.

Shorty
02-13-2013, 06:53 AM
AHA, I was going to put Florence and the Machine on there! Not In Rainbows, though D: but I admit I didn't go digging through your last.fm history like Eric did.

all in all, 4/9 :(

Bunny

This is even harder than picking out 9 favorite games.

But who can ever deny the absolute masterpiece that is the Dark Side of the Moon? Bottom 2 rows are in no particular order.

Heeeeeey, I saw the Riverboat Gamblers live! They were really fucking good! I had completely forgotten about them until now.

So glad to see someone else with an appreciation for Neon bible

I always knew you had a good taste in music :greenie: not many people know the Gamblers! Gonna see them for the fourth time this April :D

And I love Neon Bible for the atmosphere it brings as a whole. It's like 1+1=3, all the songs supplement one another to create something more than just a collection of songs.

7/9 of mine have both artist and title on the cover, so hopefully mine aren't too hard to figure out

I've been afraid to listen to Neon Bible because my first taste of Arcade Fire was Funeral. And that album depressed me way too much. It was seriously impossible to be happy while listening to it. It was good and all but I have hardly been able to bring myself to listen to it since I first tried getting into the band.

So my question is whether Neon Bible will have the same effect and if I should give it a try.

Shorty
02-13-2013, 10:14 PM
aww, thanks, Pete! I would definitely see them again if given a chance - they put on a good show!

Some songs you might find depressing if you find Funeral depressing. I like Arcade Fire songs because a lot of the time they are about reflection, whether it's on the past and childhood (which is what all the Neighborhoods songs make me think of) or yourself and modern times, where we're going, etc. My Body Is A Cage is pretty smurfing depressing and I don't really listen to it, but others Keep The Car Running, No Cars Go and surprisingly Antichrist Television Blues are pretty upbeat I loves them.

I say give it a shot!

For Shoeberto:
Top row: Tool - 10,000 Days, Lateralus, and Aenima respectively.
Middle row: Only one that isn't obvious is The Mars Volta - Frances the Mute
Bottom row: Also obvious.

But why do you hate Maynard James Keenan, Vivi? Why?

Pheesh
02-14-2013, 02:22 AM
He is a pretty big douche, to be honest xD I was tempted to put Lateralus cause if you asked me the same question about 5 years ago Tool would have occupied about 5 spots, but I haven't listened to an album start to finish in years. Maybe if they didn't take so long between releases I wouldn't get so bored of them.

Honestly not sure if this is a joke or not since I did neglect all of his solo stuff.

I was just messing with you. I am actually a huge fan of Tool and other related projects involving Keenan. I appreciate your picks!

EDIT: Your signature made your post funnier.

It has that effect on people. I've actually listened to some of Maynard's solo stuff too. The Humbling River is quite good, but he's just so much better when he's backed by the great musicians in Tool and A Perfect Circle. Dude can sing like no one's business and should have bands that compliment that well.

And HNB, he may be a bit of a dick, but I will always love any man will hip toss someone on stage and proceed to choke him out, and continuing to sing the song being played while doing it.

Pheesh
02-14-2013, 03:23 AM
Poor guy just wanted a hug :( but yeah it was pretty boss that he kept singing I suppose.

The last time I saw them (2011 I think) his voice was pretty bad, and the set list they chose was even worse. But I saw APC in 2005 and that was still the best concert I've ever been to, so I know how great he can be.

I was actually tempted to have that on there but it's not fair because it hasn't been in my rotation for even 1/10th of the time as any of the other albums on my list. One day though...

I'm happy that you were even tempted to do it. It's like my go-to album these days; I listen to it at least three times a week as of late.
