The wait is almost over! Square-Enix has announced that the beta test of Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn (http://home.eyesonff.com/content/category/101-final-fantasy-xiv.html) will begin on February 25, 2013. That is, somewhat surprisingly, not too far off the original estimated start date of mid-February.

Beta invitations have also been sent out, with more to come. If you haven’t applied for the beta test yet, there’s still time to do so at the application site (http://home.eyesonff.com/content/2258-beta-test-application-site-open-final-fantasy-xiv-realm-reborn.html).

If you want more information on what the beta test will entail, check out our beta roadmap coverage (http://home.eyesonff.com/content/2224-final-fantasy-xiv-realm-reborn-beta-begin-february.html).

I can't wait for beta. Star Wars:TOR just isn't doing it for me.

It's a shame the NDA exists so we can't organise which Beta Worlds we will be going to, should we happen to get Beta codes.

On a COMPLETELY DIFFERENT NOTE: Moogles are pretty cool.

Ouch!

It's kind of silly that the NDA restricts people from identifying themselves as beta testers. Granted, anyone should have a pretty good guess. I mean, if someone has mentioned in the past that they are a Legacy Member, for example, you would know that they're in the beta and could send them a PM to discuss their plans.

Theoretically. Of course.

Yeah, I'm sure most people have already done such things... but boy oh boy, Moogles, man. Moogles. Awesome.

Theoretically, you could figure out who is in the beta by their number of vague 'I-have-a-seeeecret' posts about the beta.
