I officially passed the halfway mark on my dissertation today!

5689/10,000 words!

Sooo pleased! I can see the light at the end of this long tunnel! What awesome things have you done lately? :D

not a major accomplishment but still a thing and maybe it'll snowball into more motivation

nice. but why is your dissertation word limited?

It's probably the minimum amount of words she can have.

No, minimum is 8000 and max is 10,000.

I believe it's because I'm only an undergrad student, and it's a dissertation to show our research skills and skills of writing to a word count too. I'm not sure why, as I could probably write about 20,000 on my subject - given a longer length of time, of course! It's also not a sciencey dissertation so there are no surveys and studies to look at, it's purely essay.

Good effort! Keep it up!

I suppose the most awesome thing I did was support a band at their album launch. Their manager gave me his card after the show and he's put me on the bill for an acoustic showcase at the end of March... so we'll just see what comes of that!

Halfway? In February?! Why don't you do the whole thing in one night like the rest of us did?

Just finished up a nightmarish ticket at work - I've been stuck on it for two weeks or so, taking over where someone else left off, and it was already all but legendary at the office when I took it over. Worst task I've had at any job, I was pulling my hair out over it. But it's finally done! :D

Not a whole hell of a lot. But congratulations, my love!

I got a 92 on my first inferential stats exam. The class average was a 70 with a standard deviation of 15, so I'm really happy with it. :D

For just a moment, I thought this was an ICP thread and I almost punched my work monitor out of pure reflex.

I got through work today without dying, and that is saying something. Today was so stressful and busy.

In my uni it's because lecturers don't like to read that much and are miserable when a hulking behemoth of a paper is slammed onto their desk so hard the legs buckle.

I think dissertations in my faculty are limited to 30k or 60k, I forget. I don't have to do one until next year, thankfully.

The only thing very noteworthy that I can think of is that one of my pre-trial motions that I spent almost two full days working on was just granted.

Halfway? In February?! Why don't you do the whole thing in one night like the rest of us did?

Seriously! That is how I did all of my undergrad work. I wrote my political science thesis in the two days before it was due.

Which would imply that you are like a phoenix or the living dead...O-o; *gets shotgun ready*

Which reminds me, I have two papers due after my "reading week" (read: working 6 days this week). I will probably write one Sunday night and the other Monday. :p

Congrats Locky.

I got a new job, although I'm still going to look for other things because this job is entirely commission, but it will do for now.

This morning I got cheered and applauded by the whole office when I moved my ticket over to the testing area of our progress wall. This afternoon the CTO brought over a bottle of champagne as a thank you. Life is good on the top. 8-)
