Danica Patrick has made history by being the first female NASCAR driver to qualify pole (1st) position for the 2013 Daytona 500, with a time of 45.817 seconds and a speed of 196.434 mph.

For those unfamiliar with qualifying for a motorsports race, it means that it determines what position your car will start in. When you qualify in the pole position, it means that you will start the race in first place.

The Daytona 500 is scheduled to air on Sunday, February 24, at 1pm on FOX, and will consist of 200 laps. (Note: 200 laps x 2.5 mile track length = 500 miles)
