This is a discussion about the Billboard top 100 of various years! First up, a thread discussiong the popular concessus of the 1980's!

Billboard Year-End Hot 100 singles of 1980 - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Billboard_Year-End_Hot_100_singles_of_1980)

I considered myself to make a top 5 best songs of the list, but when I realized there was only 8 songs I liked from it (the rest range from bleh to hate) I'd just list them all out!

But while I make said list, discuss the topic! (And perhaps guess what my 8 songs will be. ;P

I like Pink Floyd so I'm happy for it for coming 2nd spot. The rest I don't really know.

What a troutty list. Closer is a better album than at least 90% of the crap on there.

8. Lips Inc. - Funkey Town (#8) - Not a very good song, but fun and a lot
of energy. Mind you though, the lack of enjoyable songs from this list
is the only reason this one is worth mentioning.

7. Mickey Gilley - Stand by Me (#82) - A classic. A bit over rated I think,
but still good fun.

6. Gary Numen - Cars (#12) - Again I think it's over rated, but still one
of the Synth sounding songs of the decade to sound really good. Really this
is the point of this list the songs start to get really good.

5. Queen - Crazy Little Thing Called Love (#6) - Oh Queen, you have done so
little wrong.

4. Billy Joel - YOu May Be Right (#75) - And this is the point the list get's
awesome. Billy Joel is one of my favorite artists, so yes. He is on this list.

3. BLondie - Call Me (#1) - Blondie is just plain awesome.

2. Pat Benatar - Heartbreaker (+83) - Though as awesome as Blondie is, Pat
just has a passion to her singing that puts her above Blondie, and really
I think all of her music is consistantly better.

1. Billy Joel - It's Still Rock and Roll to Me (#9) - Thank you Billy Joel,
Thank you for giving me two great songs to pull for this year in music. Hell,
I don't think this is even comparable to the best songs he's done. But even
then his music is leagues above the others.

Blondie - Call Me

Amazing song, well worthy of the number 1 spot imo!

May not have been my favorite, but yeah, I blame no one who agrees with it's #1 status that year. :p

Along with some ones already mentioned, I also see Genesis, Tom Petty, Fleetwood Mac, and Bob Seger.

Most of the list is painful though.
