Heyoooo EoFF!

I'm running a new feature on my blog, which is basically a regular 'spotlight' type feature on girls who game! Trying to abolish this 'myth' that girls hate vidya and stuff, and plus it's interesting.

So, anyone who would be interested in doing one of these please sign up here :D

All it would include is an interview about you and the games you play. I'd also like to have some pictures of you in the article and stuff, maybe 2 or 3! So yeah, if you're interested, please comment in this thread and I'll get back to you! I'm unsure as to whether this will be weekly, every two weeks, or monthly though. Probably monthly, and I have a couple of girls already lined up. SO EXCITING!

:D

Also. I had to rename my blog :/ I found another 'Pink Nerd' that was from before I started my blog. She's not even a nerd she blogs about beauty! Waaah. So I'm now...... Stilleto Gamer! :D (Link in my sig!) I'm really trying to make this blog something special, it's still new and a bit boring, but I'd love for you gals to sign up your interest you bunch of hotties :D

Cheeeeers!

You could say that he's a boy and girls make his noodle happy. If y'know what I mean.

You could also just say that he is Australian and you must therefore forgive his lack of ability to socialize with civilized humans, as it is not his fault.

Stiletto Gamer sounds much better than Pink Nerd, imo. :)

I honestly don't game that much, so I don't think I can help you out. But good luck! Make sure you post the interviews here! :)

Every discussion I have with a woman about cooking...so I feel girl gamerz pain.

I'd like to sign up, but I haven't been gaming much lately except for maybe two, especially since my PS2 isn't working right now. -____-

This would be fun if I had a real console and could play the games I want to play :( I'll let you know when I get a PS3

But if you got a PS3 you still wouldn't have any games to play

I want one with backwards compatibility. Does that make any difference?

Shauna

IIRC, not every game works on the backwards compatible PS3s. A lot of them do, but there is the chance some of your library won't work. I'm sure there's a list on the internet somewhere of the ones that definitely work. :3

Depends on the batch. The launch PS3s had the PS2 hardware in them so it was pretty good at it. Then they made the 80 gig models that had software compat which was a lot worse. And then they stopped making them.

tbh you'd be better off getting a cheapo newer PS3 used and doing PC emulation if you want to keep playing your PS2 library. Used launch model PS3s are expensive and pretty well aged at this point, it's really not worth the extra cash.

And don't listen to Milf. The PS3 has one of the best catalogues of exclusives on the market.

Yeah the "blue discs" from the ps2 generation wont run on ps3 BC consoles. So even if they are backwards compatible they still don't work xD Only the ones that are blue though.

I'd love to do an interviewy thing on your blog ^_^ I'm a super nerd dork and happen to be of the female gender!

The myth is no longer than women do not play or have any interest in video games. The myth is that there is a myth that women do not like or have any interest in video games. I do not understand the point of these things - all it does is perpetuate a stereotype.

You should make sure all pictures are like the first two (http://www.geeknative.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/10/girl-gamers.jpg) and not like the last two.

I was going to post something similar. I would not want any attention for being a "girl gamer", or a "woman racecar driver", or whatever. Why not just make a blog about gaming?

Pike

Whilst I agree in theory, there are in fact still stereotypes to be broken. Perhaps not "females gaming" in general, but "females who run Linux and play grand strategy and wargames near exclusively"? See, that's still interesting.

(And by "females who run Linux and play grand strategy and wargames near exclusively", I am of course referring to pre-op genderless robots who do those things.)

I think it's a good idea because a lot of the girls I have lined up don't talk about gaming that much, so letting them talk about gaming for my blog is something they're really down for. I have a girl who I only just found out plays videogames and she has pretty much every game I can think of, and there's another girl who absolutely adores Skyrim and would love the chance to be featured talking about it, and talking about her character on it and how many hours she's clocked because she loves it, and I think it's interesting - so why not do it? My blog is about gaming, and as much as I appreciate what you're saying, there still is sexism surrounding gaming. Games magazines are put with the porn mags in some supermarkets, I've been to game shops to buy a game and been asked if I was buying it for my 'boyfriend'.

I don't believe I'm perpetuating a stereotype at all by taking girls from all walks of life, from different careers (Skyrim girl works in architecture!) who just want to talk about how much they love a game, or gaming. And then if I can't do that, isn't that building to the stereotype again? Why do girls get criticised for wanting to talk about games? "Oh she just wants attention by talking about these games." Or, maybe she just wants to talk about something she's passionate about. I don't see how it's any different to running a feature on girls who knit, bake or are interested in fashion, imo.

Watching a recent 2013 episode of The Simpsons it seems that " all women find video gaming dull, and that they want all attention to be them on them instead of enjoying a decent game, because that's *boy's stuff* "

That smurfed me off.

I would like to sign up, but yeah I'm more ugly than anything. Not fishing for complements, it's the sad honest truth. And yeah, I'll just get made fun of.

Plus I think " She just plays old retro games and rarely the newer ones unless it's a JRPG mostly " wouldn't help.

Night Fury

This isn't about only picking hot girls Maybee. & I bet you aren't ugly. If you feel like you can spout a trout tonne on old retro games, I want you for my feature :3

Ew, when did The Simpsons become outdated? That is horribly inaccurate to this time period. Maybe the 80s with arcade gaming would have been more accurate, but I know a few girls who started gaming well in the 80s.
