With the release of Tomb Raider today, the internet has been awash with rumours of a new movie that could be hitting the big screens...

Head of studio at Crystal Dynamics - Darrell Gallagher has said: “It’s a good partnership. We’re seeing the challenges through the same lens.” The studio will be teaming up with GK Films to create the film after they acquired the screen rights to Tomb Raider back in 2011.
“It was important for both of us to have a cohesive version of the franchise, we didn’t want to see a film version that was a continuation of the old Tomb Raider films.”
Graham King, producer of the movie has said that it "is really the story before she became Lara Croft, so it is a character piece." Lara is of course one of the most iconic video games characters of all time, and is a huge figurehead in modern popular culture. She was portrayed by Angelina Jolie in the 2001 action flick and it's sequel.

It has been said that the movie will follow on with the storyline of the new game, and that the two will go hand-in-hand with each other.
"I've not really done a movie like that before, but I really gravitated to rebooting this franchise and we're going to give it a shot."
As the movie is still in its pre-production stages, it has not yet been revealed who will be playing Lara Croft. But now that a movie has indeed been revealed, it can only be a matter of time before Hollywood's young hopefuls are fighting each other off for this amazing role....
