I'll be heading to Las Vegas this week for 6 days. Anyone have any suggestions? What liquor is recommended for a Canadian who has been very deprived of good selection?

Ooh, I went there on my USA trip, I'll give you the method of drinking that my friends and I honed during our stay (but be aware, when we would do this we were staying off strip on Las Vegas Blvd., about halfway between Fremont st and The Strip. When we stayed in an actual casino this was too much hassle). Also, if you decide to do this you will be very fit after your trip, lots of walking involved.

1. walk to Fremont st in the mid morning and eat at the Denny's there. (optional...I suppose >.>)
2. Then on Fremont st. there is a big casino I forget the name of, but it sells 99c margaritas (there's also $2 shots if you feel brave that early in the morning...after Denny's). We would drink one of those then buy 2 or 3 more and start walking down Las Vegas blvd. towards the strip.
3. By the time you've finished your margaritas you should have reached a 7/11, it's right near that famous pawn shop from TV, there's always a big line of fat people out the front, you'll know it when you see it.
4. Buy the largest version of the big gulp and fill it with a desired mixer and lots of ice.
5. continue walking down LV Blvd., drink a little bit of your Big Gulp, and then once you reach a liquor store buy an alcohol of your choosing. Pour it into the big gulp and then continue walking.
6. By the time you have reached the strip you should have finished most of the mixed drink, and trust me, you'll be sufficiently hammered.
7. ???
8. PROFIT!

EDIT: Also, I accept no responsibility for what happens to you because of this next suggestion, but buy 3 or 4 cans of four loco one night and have those as your pre-drinks. I don't know what it is but that drink brings out most horrible debaucherous fun side to everyone that drinks it. It goes really well with Vegas.

Yeah I went once, it was just after we met up with Rei again, and we had to beat him out of being a weretiger.

I have only been as a young teen. We stayed at the Pink Flamingo. Apparently it's the only place you can see Cirque Du Soleil's O! The fully underwater one. :) I.

As a Canadian, I had 4Loco for the first time ine New York. Different flavours, sweet and yummy but very dangerous.

I went once.

I got a lot of blow jobs and didn't gamble.

Blow jobs? Alright.

Happy Noodle Boy. Your plan sounds a bit short of AMAZING. We'll see if I can handle that.

Definitely go to Fremont Street, like Happy Noodle Boy suggested. Be aware that it is a mile or so from the strip, so if you want to walk it like HNB then be sure to be drunk, like HNB. Also maybe don't do it at night, or don't walk away from LV Blvd if you do.

Definitely see Penn & Teller, even if you're not a big fan of magic.

Definitely go to Fatburger at 3am when they're blasting rap music and grilling burgers and having a good time in general.

Go to Ceasar's Forum Shops and look at all the things you probably can't afford.

Look at all the guys walking around with prostitutes and maybe consider getting one yourself (don't)

There's a bus service that I think is called the Deuce Bus, it goes from Fremont and all the way down the Strip with multiple stops. Walk the strip from beginning to end the first night you're there, then invest in a bus ticket so you don't need to bother doing that again.

I've never been, but it's good to read some of these tips from people who have been just in case I do end up there at some point. :cat:

Six days? That's a long time in Vegas. Bring chapstick and drink a lot of water, because it is extremely dry.

Eat at Lotus of Siam (http://www.saipinchutima.com/) at least once while you're there. It's off the strip, so you'll probably have to take a cab (unless you're driving) but it's probably the best Thai food in the country. The cripsy duck and braised pork short rib off the chef special section in the back are must-haves.

Also eat at one of the buffets in one of the bigger hotels while you're there. It'll cost $40 or $50 but you'll never want to eat food again after that.

I want to go just to see Cirque du Soleil.

Also, being trashed all the time.

Went, saw a ton of old fat people eating and sunbathing.

Gambled a ton and almost broke even.

Saw the grand canyon and almost shed a tear.

Only hung on the strip instead of downtown which is apparently much better.

Couldn't find Canadian beer anywhere because USA... So just drink free budweiser at the penny slots but tip well or you won't see a server more than once

Buffalo Bills is the only place on The Strip with $5 blackjack tables. Do it.

Oh my god. 6 days is an eternity in Vegas.

Vegas has some of the best food in the world. So please please don't just eat the McDonald's in the food court.

Definitely stay on the strip if you can. I've stayed off strip before and it's just not the same. You can just drive or taxi over to the downtown old Vegas area if you want to check it out. But it's nice staying on the strip if only to walk around at night, see the Bellagio water show, get huge pitchers of margaritas and just enjoy the crazy sites. If you must do a buffet, do the one at the Wynn. Everything else sucks balls and is so pricey. Set a budget for yourself if you're going to gamble and don't go over that budget. Don't be that guy. Catch a show if you can. Cirque du Soleil is really smurfing cool.

The only reason I'd want to go is to see the events down there like Cirque due Soleil and music events. Other then that, no real point for me to go as I don't gamble or pay for prostitutes.

You just get the prostitutes for free, and it's not called gambling if you win all the time Shiny.

Hahah, well I'm definitely not sleeping with free prostitutes. Free sex with ladies/men of the night sounds sketchy. I'm just as weary as people offering me free massages. It's like yeah it's free, BUT THEN WHAT. Then AIDS, probably.

I don't like gambling or purchasing prostitutes either... but I would be game for a binge drink and elvis wedding.

Texas Station is the Buffet of choice in Vegas. :colbert:

Mind you I haven't been there in like, seven years...

There's no reason to leave the strip. At all. Some hotels are moderately priced and you can tend to get amazing package deals on travel websites. You should be able to walk everywhere you want and go up and down the strip without getting too exhausted.

I love Vegas. It's dirty, trashy, too bright and after 7pm, everyone is belligerent. Love it. (except in the summer, too damn hot)

I'll be there in three and a half weeks to see The Postal Service at The Cosmopolitan. So excited!
