Let's think of fun names for other worldly/dimension timezones from our tv shows/books/movies. Pacific, East, Mountain, Greenwich time. Mountain Time? Who the hell runs on Mountain Time?

Lord of the Rings would have timezones like Brandywine Time and Sauron's-All-Seeing-Eye-Tower Time.

Timezone for the TARDIS would be Wibbly Wobbly Timey Wimey Time.

Timezones only exist in a more global world, so Middle Earth is likely to have time that could change by minutes and miles.

EVERY settlement or town would likely set their clocks by sunrise/sunset, so anywhere you travel is probably gonna have a different time, if not only slightly.

Mountain Time? Who the hell runs on Mountain Time?

You do :greenie:

Tamriel's area is approximately 12,000,000 sq. miles, which if it was a perfect square works out to 3464 miles per side. On Earth this would make it the second-largest country, after Russia. Eyeballing it it looks like it's a rectangle of a ratio of about 2:3 height:width. That makes it about 2771 miles from top to bottom and 4157 miles from east to west coasts.

Unfortunately here's where it gets a bit trickier: The width of a timezone is going to vary wildly depending on the latitude of the location in question, due to being located on a sphere. We don't know what latitude Tamriel is located at so we can's say for sure how many timezones it encompasses, although it seems to be approximately the northern hemisphere with the southern shores approaching the equator, given the presence of Atmora to the far north and Tamriel's general climatic variations as you travel from north to south. We also don't know how large Nirn is, but we'll assume for the sake of argument it's about the same as Earth.

Let's assume that the Tamrielic equivalent of Greenwich Mean Time is Imperial Standard Time, centered on the Imperial City of Cyrodiil. Let's further assume that the Imperial City is located such that you have to travel about 800 miles east or west, at this latitude, to reach another timezone; this would put it at approximately the same latitude as Madrid (with the north of Skyrim being slightly more northerly than Juneau and St. Petersberg, and the southern coast being about the same latitude as Mexico City or Mumbai).

Based on all this I've prepared the following map with a very rough and approximate map of the timezones that would be present on Tamriel. I've taken the liberty of naming timezones based on significant places, but the borders are just straight lines whereas in reality they would almost certainly follow various features such as provincial borders or coastlines; the border between IST and Anvil Time would, for example, almost certainly follow the boarder between Valenwood and Elsweyr. Daggerfall time may not even touch land, as Summerset time could very plausibly be extended out to cover peninsular High Rock and westernmost Summerset Isles. Finally remember that spheres are not flat surfaces so this map has issues there, and probably is only really accurate for the latitude around the Imperial City.

Still this hopefully gives a decent look at how the timezones might look on Tamriel and also gives a look at how big the place is - with six timezones, the continent has more than the continental USA and the same number as Canada.
