As summer fast approaches for us North Hemisphereans, I was wondering what some of your favourite things to do outside in the summer are.

Of course there's swimming, but what more creative things do you like to do?

sit inside with the curtains closed and the lights off and play video games and browse the internet

ok time to shave my neckbeard

edit: actual answer is like, go for walks and shit like that. only when it's not too humid, so like zero days out of the summer

When I was younger and living in the more rural area of the neighborhood, I would often hang out and go on adventures in the woods. We would sometimes pretend to use sticks as weapons and kill bad guys on our badass journeys through the woods. It was awesome, and summer was the best time to venture into the woods.

It's alllmost warm enough to break out the fire pit! And camping. God, I love camping.

I miss wakeboarding, but I haven't been friends with anyone who has a boat in years :(

Chilling outside on the beach with cute girls in biknis, hiking up mountains, festivals, parties, drugs and alcohol, surfing, taking photos. smurf video games.

^ This was my plan for this summer, until I got the dumb idea to search for an internship so I can spend my summer working for smurf all :monster:

Go to a theme park. Six Flags Great America is the closest one to my location. I occasionally like to walk out doors in a forest preserve area. Also, generally having a gathering with friends while chilling out and drinking booze is a good feeling.

Walking my dog! BBQs in the park with booze! Beer gardens! Strawberry picking, jogging, reading a book in the park. I love going out in summer when its warm, it feels like a waste of a day if I stay in.

But for the most part I stay inside with the windows open because going outside and getting a sunburn is what I do best!

Hiking, camping, water skiing, boating, disc golf, tennis, stuff like that.

Also, racing, autocrosses, gymkhanas, and car shows are more fun when it's nice.

When I lived in NC I used to ride a friends Sea-Doo all the time. One of the only things I miss.
kayaking is fun, and thankfully there are good places to go here.
I also just love relaxing out in the warm weather.

Swimming! I love swinming outdoors. Looking up at the sky while I am floating on my back is so relaxing. I also love jet sking. Would be boss to get to do that this summer, but this time on carribean and not on the murky waters near the Statue of Liberty.

Kayaking doesn't take that much arm strength, unless you plan on kayaking some real distance, like more than 2-3 miles

Go to a theme park.
I'd do this too, because HersheyPark is less then 30 minutes away from me. It's got some great coasters, including the worlds fastest lift hill

Also, bird-handling. The raptor centre I volunteer for has asked me to go to some of the county fairs and stand around holding birds and answering questions :D

There's one in Nashville? I know Memphis used to have one, but they tore it down along with Libertyland and happiness.

I swear, Memphis is like the Boneyard in Fallout, but with more hipsters and slightly less radiation.

Unbreakable Will
04-08-2013, 06:12 PM
Yeah, it's both an amusement park and a water park. It's got both kinds of rides but it's really terrible. I can't remember what it's called though.
Nashville Shores? Something like that.

I think the closest amusement park for me is like 6 hours away. It's at least 5 to the nearest water park of any significant size.

I mean there is one in my town but it is really tiny. And indoors.

Also, we have a good amount of water parks in KC. The main one and the cheapo one for Northland are both close to me.

You'd be surprised, my muscles are so weak and tiny ;-; It might not take much strength, but I know that doing it over and over is going to wear me out at first. I doubt we'll go more than 2, 3 miles max.

I greatly, greatly dislike water parks. Rather be in the ocean.

I love swimming. It's the one thing I really miss moving out of the south where it was hot as hell during the summer. I'm only a dozen or so blocks from the beach, but the Pacific Ocean in San Francisco is not so inviting, temperature-wise.

I am down for some frisbee anytime, though.

Hiking, fishing, swimming. Before it was outlawed here--cliff diving. Baseball.

And I really love to write outside.

You've only had the game for a week. How is that your favorite warm weather outdoor activity? It's not even warm yet! :P

I like to go to baseball games and go places via my feet or a scooter. This summer I'm really hoping to walk from the Pacific Ocean to the sea of Japan with a tent on my back.

This summer, I want to actually do stuff outside. Last summer was a bit too hectic to do much.

This summer, I want to go all Jeremy Wade on some local rivers and catch me some fishes.

I just have to buy a fishing rod and all the doodads that go with it, and learn how to fish all over again, after not having done so since I was six...

In my country there are only two seasons. So when the warm weather I prefer to use motorcycle for touring. Moreover, if the long journey is much more exciting haha :D
Turing goal to the mountains. I'm bored if kept alone into the mountain area. Although there was little friend who participated. And they are only about four so not too exciting.
I still want to touring to the beach which is located in another country using my bike, maybe  hehe
It must be fun haha :)

I like to go to the driving range, mini golf of course, paintball, basketball with friends, campfires in the woods at night, going for rides on the dirt roads on beautiful summer days or nights, hiking all over the place, fishing. There's so much to do here outdoors any time of the year!

My absolute favorite thing to do is get a group of friends, preferably 4. Take various "stuffs" and hike up to mount Ascutney. About 1/2 way up the mountain on the ski slopes you can cut off and come out to an old cabin on a cliff side. I love hanging out up there and watching the sunset while seeing things from my "stuffs" that I ate.

this is the view you see :D

It depends on the people I'm with. In an ideal situation, I'll have friends over and we'll head out to a park and just bask in the sun and talk about random crap while eating ice cream or something. I remember hanging out with Dan, Ellly, Rory and Danielle when they came up for August. We went to the Botanical Gardens and just chilled in the sun near some random college kids performed some kind of play thing I can't remember since it was festival season. Good times. =]

Bozeman is located at an altitude of 4,820 feet (1,468m)
