Well what was it!? do you still love it as much as you did then?

Mine was Green Day Dookie. I still listen to this album on a regular basis. I love this album and probably always will. I got the cassette way back when in 1994 then got the CD as soon as we had a CD player at home.

I can't really remember what my first cd was. It is kind of sad. It may have been a Yugioh cd I got from McDonalds in a happy meal or something. I listened to it once last year when I happened to find it again. It is fun to listen to for nostalgia's sake.

Outside of that, I think the first album I've ever owned/bought was Relient K's Two Lefts Don't Make A Right, But Three Do. It is still one of my favorite albums to this day, and I listen to it on a regular basis.

I -think- my first CD was Queen's Greatest Hits in 1992. That striking plum and gold cover, and Somebody to Love on loop. I remember being upset that Bohemian Rhapsody wasn't on the disc, but it was okay because I had the cassette.

The Digimon Movie Soundtrack. I had Allstar, All My Best Friends Are Metalheads, One Week, The Impression That I get,and other stuff. It was awesome.

Queen's Greatest Hits. I watched D2: The Mighty Ducks so many times, and would rewind it over and over again to listen to We Are the Champions, my dad eventually came home from a business trip with that CD for me.

Holy shit, never seen someone else say this. It's just about the best damn first album you could ever get, short of like Blood on the Tracks or Led Zeppelin on vinyl in the 70s.

Not quite sure now, might have been Up by R.E.M. - still a pretty good album, if in need of some trimming.

I think mine was Cotton Eye Joe by Rednex - also to show how old I am - it was on a cassette not a CD.

If we want to keep it to CDs then I think it was the Spice Girls first album.

I'm not 100% sure, but I think it was The Number of the Beast by Iron Maiden. I'm not as ashamed of that as I should be.

My first cassette tape was Michael Jackson's History: Past, Present and Future, Book I.

It must have been something related to video game music. I remember having a copy of the Waterfalls single from TLC when I was a child, too.

Good Charlotte (first one I bought myself) I'm so ashamed.

As for the first CD ever, it was the Tarzan soundtrack. Loooots of Sting. :roll2

Michell Branche's Spirit Room and the soundtrack to the first Pokemon movie.

I got two with my CD player on Christmas morning and I honestly can't remember which I opened first: Bad Hair Day by Weird Al or AC/DC Live. First actual purchase was the same as Phil's.

Anyone ever try and snake twelve free CDs from Columbia House in the 90s? We got that cancelled after they sent the first disc you had to pay for. :aimsun:

My first was the Killer Instinct OST. It came with the video game.

But my first music CD that wasn't included with anything and was bought on its own was Daydream from Mariah Carey. I still love that thing to death.

Yes - Highlights: The Very Best of Yes

Still love the band lots, but I can't tell you the last time I've listened to this particular CD. Every single song on this compilation is from an album that's worth listening to in its entirety (except arguably "Rhythm of Love", I guess), so I just listen to those.

My first cassette was probably Rolling Stones or John Cougar Mellencamp

My first ever CD was erm... the single of "I'll Be There For You" by The Rembrandts. I was only about 12 or 13 I think so you can't judge me :colbert:

... at least not as much as I judge myself.

My first ever album was actually Ill Communication by The Beastie Boys. Though that was a cassette. Yup, I'm old.

Nsync - Nsync was possibly my first CD. Either that or Alannis Morrisette - Jagged Little Pill. I can't remember.

First cassette? I don't even know. I've had cassettes since I was a little kid. It was probably something like Teddy Bear's Picnic. xD

Growing up in the abject poverty of South Wales meant that I was very late to this whole 'owning and listening to music' razzmatazz. I think my first CD was The Darkness' Permission to Land, which I got as a birthday present from my uncle. I don't think he knew that I had nothing to play it on. :(

My first CD was a gift for Christmas and was Weird Al Yankovik's Greatest Hits album. Its a good CD but most of his classic stuff from the 80s.

The first CD I bought for myself was Pioneer's Anime division releasing a CD with the translated opening and ending themes to several of their big anime series like Tenchi Muyo!, El Hazard, and The Hakkeden. I love this CD and its incredibly rare now. Especially since it contained rare tracks like the ending theme to Green Legend Ran:

iE0xrWTIeho

Now to show how much of an old fogey I am, my first just ask your parents what it is I bought for myself was Billy Joel's River of Dream album.

The first one I got for MYSELF was Yellowcard - Ocean Avenue
And you can damn well expect that I still love it to pieces.

I didn't get into music in general at all until like 5th grade soo my first CD was obtained at like 10 or 11 years old.

My first was the soundtrack to The Mask on cassette.

My first CDs were the soundtracks to Batman Forever and the Power Rangers movie, which we got with the 12 free Columbia Record Club thing that we also canceled immediately. I still remember how big of a deal it was when my sister got her stereo with a CD player.

I received my first ever CD by tearing a sheet out of a magazine I'd borrowed from the library, and mailing something in. It was this:

Once I received the CD, I took it to my nearest music store and explained it was bought for me as a gift, but I already had a copy, so I wanted to exchange it for this:

I can't remember what my first first was. As far as I can remember, my early collection included:

Nevermind
Rage Against the Machine
40 oz to Freedom (one of the few cd's I still have, most others have been lost)
The Black Album
2Pacalypse Now
Apollo 18
Ill Communication
Off the Deep End
A Chopin piano collection

I don't remember which one was my firstie, though.

Oh oh, no I remember now, it was Joe Satriani. Shit, how could I forget that lol. Still have it and listen to it all the damn time.

I was a little late getting to the CD party. I didn't get my first CD until I graduated in 1997. Technically, it was two CDs that I bought at the same time. I believe it was Aerosmith~Nine Lives and Def Leppard~Vault. :)
