View Full Version : Talking to yourself/inanimate objects

Do you do this?

I quite often catch me reprimanding myself for something I've forgot to do. Occasionally, i'll try and motivate myself to do something that I can't be bothered doing like "Come on, Danny. Just do the kitchen floor then you can chill." I've also more recently found myself talking to things in my house like my kettle and my guitar. I even apologised to my washing machine for trying to open the door before its spin cycle was complete.

Can anyone else relate or is there a possibility that I could be diagosed as clinically insane?

There was one time I was talking to myself, and then was met with an awkward silence, for I felt I should have a response, but nothing would come to mind.

I pretty much exclusive talk to myself and inanimate objects.

I'm so lonely. :(

I only do this because it helps me solve problems faster. Well, that and it helps stave off minor depression.

I do this so much, I talk to everything >.<

My Mum likes to frequently remind me that when I was little I would talk to myself while on the toilet.

I do this quite often at work. Mostly out of anger. "You motherfucking :bou::bou::bou::bou: of a bracket why won't you fucking move, piece of shit" etc.

I have a horrible tradies mouth :(

I used to thank automatic doors for opening for me. It was out of politeness.

Being overly polite is a Canadian stereotype. Pike thinks you are being overly polite.

Canadians are known for being generally very polite. (Sorry if any Canadians are offended by this stereotyping. Sorry.)

I talk to myself all the time. I go over things that I have to think about, but it's not usually a conversation, more just me talking.

Being polite is.

(unless they just lost a hockey game, of course, at which point actual riots erupt)

Peegee doesn't really count as Canadian seeing as he hates things like healthcare and love

Hockey's for girls!

Hockey is, but curling is a true gentleman's game.

Curling can go smurf itself too. Such an awful waste of time and a joke of a sport. I don't even care if we almost always win gold medals in it.

Please refrain from making such disgusting and scurrilous statements. I know it's not EoEO but we still have some standards to maintain here. - :save: MILF :save:

I do this sometimes, if there's no one around. I also thank my laptop if it loads quicker than normal and isn't being an idiot computer. That, and any other gadget that isn't acting up.

Besides thanking inanimate objects, I routinely talk to myself. Like, all the time. But only if I'm alone. If I have others with me, I'd rather talk to them, I'm sort of a last resort if no-one else is around :(

Haha MILF. :stare:

If it makes you feel any better Pike, it pleases me that your file has the appropriate file extension.

Why do you hate life. :stare:

It is called being wrong, not hating life.

Hmmm? I have whole conversations and debates with myself. Normally in my head, but if no one is around out loud or mumbled.

I talk to myself a lot; it helps me work through problems or just remember things better. That and psyche myself up at the gym.

I talked to myself a lot today. When I have a lot of errands to run, I continuously list them out loud so I don't forget.

I also used to talk to Taargus Taargus, my old car. It was a 1994 Nissan Altima stick-shift. It also had 190k miles on it. When I'd get stopped on a hill, I'd talk to it and pat the dashboard, as accelerating on a hill was near impossible. xD

God, I loved that car. ;-;

My conversations with myself are generally only in my head, though sometimes I unconsciously mumble. I do not talk to inanimate objects, though. That is just crazy.
