There's nothing to discuss since this is correct. Let's not forget every low level's best friend:

Lightning Returns is supposed to have food but it probably sucks.

I really wish I had been able to play more of this game. :(

This is my food of choice at the moment. Dem skillups.

Oh wait, we weren't talking about in-game?

Well, the thread is over, because as DM mentioned, it's not really up for debate. ;)

The lower part of Rabanastre has kebap all over the place (normal and not like "mithkabob"). That is hard to beat for me.

FFXIV has equally wonderful food.

Does not.

Yep, OP is correct as far as I'm aware.

There was such a large variety of food available in Final Fantasy XI. Unfortunately, I found myself eating the same foods while fighting almost every time. I wonder how much of a difference those high quality foods would actually make? Imagine being able to get the high quality version of any food. I'm so hungry.

Does not.
I dunno, did you ever spend time reading the descriptions?

A Starlight Celebration dessert popular in Ul'dah. This cake, if it can be called that, is unparalleled in hardness and density. Every season, at least thirty-seven severe injuries are attributed to various fruitcake-related accidents.
How can you not like... that...

Can you tell me a little more about how food is used in Final Fantasy XIV compared to Final Fantasy XI? Is it used in the same situations as a small, temporary buff to statistics?

Yes.

Korean B.B.Q Plate says you're wrong.

Korean BBQ plate makes no sense in a world where Korea doesn't exist. Disqualified.

The culinary delights found in Castlevania SotN beg to differ.

I'm not sure about FFXI off the top of my head, but in XIV it's about percentages of stats being boosted up to a maximum of [x] for each stat. So, Eft Steak would raise your attack power by 7%, but only to a maximum of five. This means that different foods are more effective depending on your level and your stats.

FFXI food is the same, after the food patch many years ago. Percentage based foods used to have no cap, but caps were added. It is common with stats such as +5 str, +22%attack (cap @ 250 base attack). There are some exceptions, or at least some foods where no one has been able to determine if there is a cap.

Korean BBQ exists in every world.

AYE!

KBBQP > Meat Pukekabob

FFXI really has too much food.

Before they rescaled the food and put caps on anything some of the upper-tier rare foods were ridiculous. Not so much now.

Oh I don't know. Red Curry Buns give quite a bit of attack.

What 140? Something like that. Relatively speaking, that's not so much any more.
