Were there any favorite foods your mom or dad would make for your family while you were growing up? Has a friend ever made you a dinner or dessert while you were sick or having a rough time? Does someone you know have a killer recipe for something that makes you excited to have meals at their house?

My dad makes the most phenomenal brownies and stove-top hot chocolate. Everything is always homemade from scratch with him, and it's like everything he touches in the kitchen turns to gold. I'm really wanting some of his brownies right now. :(

Any food someone else makes for me is my favourite food, cos it means I didn't have to cook.

I have never heard of this and have no idea what it is, but it actually looks pretty good.

My mom used to make these chocolate no-bake cookies and they were amazing. I had a pet rabbit named Susie that loved them for some unknown reason so we started calling the cookies Susie Snacks.

I miss Susie Snacks.

This looks like a bowl of what I would imagine would be unicorn vomit.

If you want the best macaroni & cheese in the world you can come to my house at Thanksgiving. Because my father will make it.

I have an aunt that makes the best new potatoes in the universe. In the entire universe and I love them.

When I was a kid I loved my Mum's trifle and lasagna, which I guess means I like my food in layers xD

My MIL made me an ice cream cake for my birthday once, and it was pretty much the best thing ever. My husband makes me fried rice about once a week, and it's always great.

Oh what, cheesecake is lovely if it's the right flavour.

As for my favourite meal, hard to say. A good roast is lovely, as a roast takes darn near forever to cook and prepare. Pass that off to someone else!

Strawberry cheesecake is awesome, but it isn't food that others make for me.

I do like cheesecake but I also feel it's somewhat over-rated

Going back to the topic of the thread, someone did make me a pretty good cheesecake once, though.

My Mum has always been highly regarded when it comes to her cooking (she was the head chef for the Lord and Lady of St. Michael's Mount Castle at one point! :D) and this meant her home cooking was generally a perfection of standard recipes mixed in with some interesting additions on occasion. My favourites were the 'home standards' such as scalloped potatoes, smoked fish pie and curried sausages. Still, nothing topped her macaroni cheese. I could eat buckets of the stuff. I have the recipe at home somewhere, maybe I'll see if I can dig it up. I could never get it right no matter how hard I tried, though, and her preferred cheeses she uses aren't avialable in the UK.

Dad, on the other hand, clearly had an education in BBQ with a masters in marinate. :)
