My first "hackathon"

I've read about hackathons and the like happening with some regularity in more tech heavy areas like San Francisco. Well the city of Houston is putting one on this weekend and I registered for my first "Hackathon".

Has anyone else ever attended anything like this? What was it like?

I have not attended anything like that because I have no 1337 skillz
