What do you love about hats?

Hats! Quite marvellous, are they not? Whether to protect your noggin, keep your ears warm or shield your neck or eyes from the harshness of the sun, these accessories are both practical, and an instant way to add a little flair to your style.

A friend knitted me a beret for my birthday this year, and it's quite lovely. Here I will end with my second favourite poem about hats, by Richard Brautigan:

Kafka's Hat

With the rain falling
surgically against the roof,

Is it odd to base one's entire outfit around a hat? because I do that sometimes

Sometimes my hair is less perfect than usual (not often...but sometimes), in those instances I have about 5 beanies that I can pick from. Also, when my hair was longer they were great for keeping it out of my face at work.

Well the top of my scalp is highly susceptible to sunburn so I have to wear a hat if I'm going to be outside for more than ten minutes.

Yep. My hair is really dark and my skin is really fair and it's a terrible combination. The dark hair attracts all the heat and then my sensitive scalp gets burned.

Happens every time. Hurts like the dickens.

I used to own a proper vintage fedora, but someone stole it, which still makes me a little sad.

I wear a beanie to bed most evenings because it both keeps me warm and blocks out the light.
