I was thinking about this last night. I actually really love my name, although I used to hate it. At least to me, Samantha is very musical and sounds sort of mystical.

I also really love my middle name. It's Elayne, which is really old-fashioned, which is cool. I got it because both my maternal and paternal grandmothers' middle names were Elaine, and my mom changed it to a y to make it a little bit more unique.

I could take or leave my last name. It's boring.

Do you like your name? What sort of impression does your name give you?

I don't like my name. My first name is a boy's name and my last name can barely be pronounced by non-french speaking people.

I didn't like my name. I quickly learned that it is an awesome name. My name is fucking dope.

I am fine with both my first and middle names. My last name is bland and generic, which is why I am taking my fiance's last name when we get married. It was either that or take my family name.

Of course I like my name it's awesome and it means me.

I do not like my first name.

I do not like my middle name.

My last name is the second most common name in the U.S., it's boring and I hate it.

This is why I just want people to call me Pike.

When Hux and I tie the knot :snuggle: I will at least have a pretty great last name, though.

Hate it. I thought about changing it, but I don't know what to change it to.

Your name is the equivalent of putting your turgid member in someone's face by way of introduction.

For a while I was seriously considering "Stephanie Starbuck" as a pen name, but then people told me it sounded like the pen name of someone who obsessively wrote bad BSG fanfiction.

Now I'm kind of considering "Stephanie Pike" or something.

If your name was Stephanie Starbuck, I would expect to see you in porn.

I like my name. I have never met another person who was named Reno like me. I usually just go by my first name. :p

I like my first name, William. Although I tend to go by Will.

My second name however... I fucking hate it. Conner.

My last name is atrocious and I think I might change it sometime. :p

Jordan Patrick O'Donnell Cleary. I have two middle names: I'm quite proud of this fact! It's also quintessentially Irish, even though I'm only 1/4 Irish. Still, I like it. Gives me a sense of identity.

Jordan is a decent enough first name. I'm so used to it, I probably wouldn't ever change it. If I was forced to change it, then maybe it might be something nice, like John. I like the name John.

I'm indifferent to my name. However, I really dislike my middle name. Not a big fan of it.

I technically have two first names... I don't really like either of them, but the one I'm usually called by isn't that common, so I'm okay with that. I like my middle name more, though.

No, of course not. My point is everyone would have a cool name they loved if they named themselves. xD

I used to hate my name. Jamie Lee Nunnery.

My cousin's on my mom's side used to drive me nuts... "Jamie Lee From Tennessee!" and the ever famous "Take thee to the Nunnery!" ... *facepalm* I don't mind it so much now. Not sure where my parents came up with Jamie, Lee came from a friend of my brother's (it was his middle name) who died in a car accident a few years ago. Annnnnd Nunnery.. My dad used to be somewhat famous in the Ohio Tri-state area racing Sprint Cars, so I'm ok with the last name now. .. Though it still irks me when people mispronounce it.

No everyone would have a name they loved, doesn't mean it would be a cool one. For example, Quin would name himself Farquhar Rumplebottom.

Well, his surname is not my surname! :3

EDIT: Oh man, did you think I had his surname? He and I will obviously have to discuss where our relationship is atm if we're coming across as a married couple. This cannot do!

My name is very common but oh well! I don't care. and I could have a cool writers name if I wanted! R.M. Howe!

Raist has a great middle name. I stole it one time for an alias I had to have when I worked in a call center.

My name is Welsh as fuck and I'm not Welsh?

megan, your name is pronounceable by the rules of the english language so there's no way it's "welsh as smurf" (though i don't know your middle name, which could be like "cwllynllwgogogollwn" or something like that)

my name's okay. no complaints. i don't know what else i'd call myself, so I guess I'm happy with it.

I don't mind my name but it's really common among girls my age and most of them aren't nice people from my experience.

Middle and last names are about mundane as they come. Cory isn't an awful first name, and at least it's not spelled with an E.

I'd like it more if people would learn how to pronounce it.

escobert
05-30-2013, 01:20 PM
Is it not pronounced how it is spelled? :p

and yeah I've been called Robert Hoe instead of Howe by some foreign people since they think a e on the end makes all vowels say their name! :p

People become quite fixated on my middle name, though, for some reason!

I love my name.

I was actually thinking the other day that I'm so glad my name is very rare, I do not know another Tara! I am the only Tara at my workplace and I have always been the only Tara in school/college/uni. I would hate there to be another Tara because it would be so weird and alien to me because I AM TARA and she is not. Hmph.

I think I only know one or two other Taras. But we say it tair-uh, so it's not completely the same.

But, I can relate. When I was in elementary/middle school, there were EIGHT SAMANTHAS IN A CLASS OF 100 STUDENTS. It was horrible. But now that I'm older, I hardly ever encounter any other Sams/Samanthas.

Actually, when I move, I've decided to start going by Samantha.

I had the same thing as Locky as far as being the only one with my name, but it made me sad. I would see two Vanessa's and two Danielle's and wonder what that must be like. To have a not boyish common name. Also it would make me sad that I could never find anything that kids get with their names on this (fake license plates, or keychains, or sticker pads) because my name wasn't common enough. Now my son is named Michael and gosh darn it he has every personalized kids stuff like that I can find. Signs and place mats and keychains and pens and pencils and stickers and books and memopads and cups and plates and whistles. If his name is on it, he will have it.

My first name is rather common, Steven. However given the options of what my parent's discussed for me before I was born I am very grateful they did go with Steven (even if I leave the n off in almost all situations) I would hate to be named Harrold, George or Frederic. My middle name Craig is of Scottish origin and I don't mind it at all, sometimes I will even introduce myself as Craig if I'm feeling bored.

My name's nothing special. That doesn't bother me though, in some ways I think it's fine that it isn't something people can remember right away because it's unusual or unique.
