Sounds like you have login issues to me, mini. You sure you're doing it right? Check by logging into the SE account maintenance page somewhere.

Honestly all the servers are full right now so I expect they're just inviting people in waves to have a steady stream coming in rather than the servers being overloaded at the word go. It doesn't seem to have anything to do with whether your a PS3 player or where you live. They've already had 2 world restarts so far today to resolve various issues.

They updated the server lists to have Group JP and Group NA/EU - Chocobo is in the JP list now.

edit: I've gone on Moogle (EU) for the heck of it. Worst comes to worst I'll just go on whichever we end up on.

Well as far as I know everything's getting wiped at the end of Phase 3 anyway. It's Phase 4 where it carries over to live which is probably when the launch worlds will be on the realm list.

And yeah, I know it's all getting wiped before phase four but I just want to get my character back. xD

Are you able to access the Beta forums, mini? Have you searched through all the SE emails to check if you have received Beta access? I'm almost certain you should have access by now. If you can access the Beta forums then you should be fine to download the client.

SOOOO turns out that SE sent me an EU code instead of a NA code? So I just tried to make a new account and put it under EU instead, so it works, well then it asks you to log into the account you just created after your code goes through and it tells me my password is wrong. Considering FFXI is over 10 years old, of course it looks better. :| In fact, this game is up to par with the majority of MMO's out there, and it'll be at the top or next to it once it gets DirectX 11 support and the PS4 release (they also said at this point they will release much higher resolution textures; and you'll get much better shaders like better animation blending, as well as material shaders like better water and lighting effects).

However, as someone who has played a lot of MMO's I am finding that so far FFXIV has a lot more depth (especially initially) and a lot more attention to detail in its world.

Actually compared to other beta's I've played (just talking about PC, not sure about PS3), it's not that buggy at all... At least, I didn't notice a single thing.

My character spent about 5 minutes flying around ten feet above the ground like I'd jumped off a cliff with both of her arms locked into the same position they'd be in if I was firing an arrow. That was my favorite glitch, but there was also one where I randomly leveled up twice without doing anything, and my arrows kept flying off without doing any damage. The second time I logged in everything seemed hunky dory, except for a a few audio glitches with the impact sounds and some errors when entering new areas, like the textures not loading right.

But, I spent a lot of time playing, so I probably found a lot more bugs than most people.

I dunno, I've been playing since Alpha and seem to have been immune to the glitches almost the entire way through, with the exception of when there are some massive FATE events going on. :p Maybe I'm just lucky or maybe it's only happening for desktops of certain spec... I've definitely clocked up at least 24 hours of testing, though.

I do remember someone in our LS firing arrows without their bow being on display, though. Oh, and once or twice in Alpha we had to use /stuck to get out of awkward places.

Lag wasn't bad for me unless we had those massive FATE things going on. Oh, but it is a pain when you start right when everyone else is and so many people are all in the same place. That gave serious lag in Beta Phase One.

Nope. This one screenshot makes me more interested in the game than any of the trailers or whatnot. The people in FFXI were always the best part of the game.

The idea that people would have their characters stand politely in line is just about the best thing ever.

Quick sort of silly question for you all you played 1.0. Is there other options for disciple of magic armor than the robes I see everywhere? One thing I liked about XI when I played it briefly was casters tended to just be wearing cloth tunics and pants, not silly looking robes.

Goddamn right we are. Roegadyn Pugilist erry day, punchin' out 20-foot-tall rock golems like they're suckers who ain't paid their bar tab.

The only thing I'm missing from 1.0 are the character movement animations. The battle and spell casting animations (and effects) are amazing, but the simple running/leaning/stopping/turning animations have been scrapped making it a little cheap-feeling. I hope they can come to some sort of compromise, because 1.0 animations were pretty amazing. :D

Also if I am back from traveling for phase 4, I'll post a lot more screenshots. However, I think everyone gets invited to that!

Yeah they've specifically said things like jumping animations are immediate and don't have a build-up because players would get mad at a perception of unresponsiveness, which is probably quite true.
