Does anyone else really hate this game? Every time I've tried to play it, I just wind up quitting shortly thereafter.

Everything about it just frustrates me. The camera controls are horrible, the Dream Eater sidekick part is needlessly complicated, the stories are annoying to follow since you keep switching back and forth, and it's a lot harder to even find a bloody save point since you have to keep track of two different maps and positions at once.

I'll have to admit I started playing a couple times but then lost interest, but that was mostly because the 3D threw me off. I'm going to give it another go (turning 3D way down or off) soon and see what happens.

Nope. I loved this game to bits.

This was definitely my least favorite of the series aside from Re:Coded. I still thought it was pretty fun to play overall, but there were a lot of things I had issues with too. I think it would have been a much better game if the story was just focused on Riku. I generally thought his side of things was more fun to play.

I like Riku's side since it's everything I love about the plot in KH1 (alternate situations arising from the heartless appearing in Disney Worlds). I dislike Sora's side since it's everything i hate about the plot in KH2 (Just the disney movie plots redone with Sora and Co replacing the good guy henchmen and heartless replacing the badguy henchmen)
I really dislike the dream eaters in both visuals and as a gameplay mechanic.
Im only up to Tron's world so far.

Im considering just playing through Riku's section and automatically dropping every time Sora comes up unless there is any reason I shouldnt or can not do so that anyone who's finished the game might care to specify?

Riku has the final final boss but Sora also has a final boss and you need to fight him.

Well what if i force my way through sora's story first?

I don't know what you mean with that question. As said, you have final bosses for both. And Riku last final boss will end the storypart of 3D because of something that I cannot spoiler here. Sora cannot ultimately end 3D's storypart. You can do it as far as possible, of course. As you have even called it, "Sora's story".

Ah i thought you meant sora's boss was a prerequisite to fighting riku's boss

More or less it is and that was part of what I wanted to tell you. Riku needs to do a final Dive but I cannot say why - that means, I know it but I won't tell you since it is pretty much the finale of 3D.

Yeah, just keep playing, it gets better in that regard, though I agree Riku's side is much more interesting. A slight spoiler: It's actually much more Riku's story than Sora's, so there you go.

Nah I love it! It's fun and the dream eaters are cute!

It's not nearly as good as BBS. I don't hate it, but the whole sky parkour thing is kinda lame.

Yeah. My biggest problem with BBS was actually the whole "three story split" thing, and the drop system makes that way, way worse.

Why can't I just play through the dang game, Square?

I am getting really, really frustrated by the Drop system. I'll be exploring a room, trying to get to a rare chest, halfway through a platforming puzzle, and then "bam", I'll be forced to switch characters. It sucks.

You can drop immediately afterwards so it should not be such a big deal. Is it a bit annoying? Yes. But you are not forced to continue with the character to who you switch.
