What are they?
For me, it's almost anything my mom cooks, but especially her:
- Oyster Dressing (that she makes at Thanksgiving)
- Sugar-Free Fudge (she adapted it & made her own recipe after my dad was diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes & is known as "The Fudge Lady" on several military bases)
- Macaroni & Tomatoes ... In spite of only having 3 - 4 ingredients, getting it perfect takes practice.
- Fried Chicken .... No explanation needed.
And my "Daddy's Spaghetti".. It's nothing special. It's not even close to being anything considered authentic Italian, but it's what my siblings & I grew up with. It's the one thing my dad will cook on his own. He's kind of told me his recipe and I've made it for Parker, so she loves it as much as I do (for her it's "Poppy's Spaghetti"). When he knows she's going to be there, he actually goes to the store himself to get everything to make it for her. Getting my dad to go anywhere is like pulling teeth. heh.
