Who enjoyed this piece?

Why?

Also, easily the scene to beat from the entire series.

The real question is "who doesn't enjoy this piece and why the fuck not?"

I guess you need to hear the fullon orchestra work with the actual opera vocals too to get the full levels of awesome (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PdNTzklSrYA), (if you haven't yet to) but smurf man yeah the original was fine. Plus why was Gau's theme so underused?

This.

God this song makes me emotional. I still think the Opera Scene isn't just the best part of any Final Fantasy game, but one of the best parts of gaming, period.

just improvising and suddenly hit the right key. Wow yeah it was an emotional moment for me.

love the song. kinda hate the gameplay at this section now though, mostly cause i'm like "ok i know the story blah blah let me get back to wasting enemies"

it starts to lose its novelty when you've played the scene a couple dozen times.

I couldn't really enjoy it because I knew it was coming and I wanted to enjoy it so I was surprised at the fact that you had to put in the words which was quite frustrating as I had to listen to the first part about four times. It got annoying fast.

It was pretty good in Distant Worlds, though.

It's a good song. And a good scene.

I just wouldn't say it's the most memorable scene from the game for me. When I think of scenes from FF VI, two more memorable scenes for me are the scene between Locke and Rachel and Cid's death, and Celes' attempted suicide.

What makes the opera scene better than these? Was it the tone?

I guess I never really understood why it is so beloved by fans.

I think it was an moment of almost levity against a backdrop of revelation, wonder, and depression. This punctuated by the perfect piece leaves us in a boss battle emotionally fueled by the moment.

I got to the Summoner's Otherworld and the whole thing with meeting Relm, were going up hills to avoid Imperials. I know I have to, er, 'climb dem hills" as it were to get to the bacon!

**SPOILERS BELOW EVEN THOUGH THIS GAME IS ALMOST 20 YEARS OLD***

What gets to me is not the story or the performance of the play, but the callback used if you let Cid die on the Solitary Island. The way that Celes threw herself off the cliff like how she tosses the flowers off the stage castle...man, that **** punched me in the soul.
