Hello cosplay fans and those who are just curious! Yes I know it's been over 2 months since the last edition but there was this thing called E3 that got in the way. Surprisingly, tracking down Squall cosplayers that were still active and didn't mind being interviewed proved to be quite a tricky task as well. I guess being withdrawn comes as standard for Squall fans!

44392This time around we'll be looking at cosplays featuring the moody protagonist of Final Fantasy VIII. None other than Squall Leonhart!
Much like Yuna, Squall cosplayers have quite a choice of outfits. From his official SeeD uniform to his cameo as Leon in Kingdom Hearts. In most iterations, though, you can generally expect belts and leather in more than copious amounts!
Squall starts off as an introverted, brooding and cold teenager who has a knack habit of pushing away those who care for him. Think withdrawn hormonal teenage angst and you'll be in the right mindset. However, this introversion paves way to his strong sense of duty and commitment and doing what needs to be done. He is the reluctant leader and although his personality comes at the annoyance of his peers - it is that clearheadedness and sense of mind that allows others to trust him unwaiveringly. As the story progresses and his love for Rinoa Heartilly blossoms he eventually becomes more open, social and trusting. This more extroverted version is best portrayed in his appearance as Leon.
With all this in mind let's see how our Squall cosplayers go about capturing these emotions.

This is Squall's third EX mode outfit from Dissidia. This Squall has clearly seen things and is more of a hardened fighter than the vulnerable teenager we started off with.

This Squall certainly seems a bit more open, but there's still a hint of reservedness in his eyes.
