The forums, much like the realms of the Beyond, can be a frightening place to those unfamiliar with the Territory. So, for the benefit of all the new adventurers who dare venture the darkness of EoFF, I offer you a guide to the Old Ones. Those who have dwelt here for so long they may appear alien to most. So, here is "The Guide to the Old Ones" Part 1 of 3.

The Cats of Ulthar (http://home.eyesonff.com/members/16811.html)
The Cats of Ulthar are best known for their deceptiveness. At first, the Cats are approachable, seeming like little more then your ordinary house cat. Fun, playful, happy and sweet. However, be not deceived, for their kind nature can quickly turn to a curse. Through either fault of yours our a mistake of arrogance on the part of them, they shall toy and mess with you without remorse or pity. When dealing with the Cats of Ulthar, it is best to be wary of all your actions, though so long as you can do so you shall be fine.

The Beast in the Cave (http://home.eyesonff.com/members/13745.html)
You will be frightened by his viciousness at first. Coming at you from seemingly out of no where, you will find yourself unable to react rationally as you are overcome by the fear. Unable to gauge what it is, you will lash out franticly. However, be warned, your fear is unwarranted. For The Beast in the Cave is but a man lost and afraid as you, and is more at risk then you. Do not fear the beast in the cave, but offer it your hand to lure the frightened beast out. He’s really a sweetheart when you get to know him.

The Terrible Old Man (http://home.eyesonff.com/members/60.html)
Of this first set, this is the one to fear the most. Most stay away from The Terrible old man, as he exudes a presence of evil. While the others are approachable, this one I would recommend against it. All who have went to see The Terrible Old Man rarely walk away, and those that do suffer far worse a fate having seen the horror and must now live on with it. Either alone, or with numbers including veterans of the forums, it will never end in your favor. Be it something that happened during his many years as a sea captain or perhaps simply being this way always, The Terrible Old Man is best avoided at all costs, though thankfully he rarely leaves from his dwelling so the task is an easy one to accomplish.

EDIT: I also like how for so-called "newbies guides," none of these make a lick of sense unless you've been here a while.
