I totally understand why she did it. As was said in the article, it has to be a lot of pressure to live up to your own name like that. And also being seen as a "children's author." I haven't read Casual Vacancy yet, but I've heard it's not very good. I can't make a judgment, but I expect that some people didn't like it because it was so different than Harry Potter.

One of the editors where I work has said she was submitted this but turned it down. A shame but hindsight is 20/20 of course.

I have read this too and am not surprised because getting published is 1% talent, 2% perseverance, 6% connections and 91% sheer dumb luck
