So, it appears that the generous Square-Enix have given the EoFF Staff another prize to give away, and I have been given the opportunity to set up this competition for them. This time, the prize up for grabs being Final Fantasy Tactics: The War of the Lions for iOS!

http://i.imgur.com/tSQCYeO.jpg

There have been a number of additions and improvements made in this update of the game. So whether this will be your first time playing the Tactics spin-offs, or if you’re a veteran of the games – this is the version to get, as it is the best way to experience Final Fantasy Tactics yet! These improvements include:

Refined Graphics - All of the game's unit graphics have been redrawn in high-resolution. Don't miss this chance to play the sharpest, most beautiful FINAL FANTASY TACTICS yet!
Improved Draw Speeds - The graphic drawing processes have been optimized for mobile devices. Say goodbye to choppy motion and crash bugs, and play with the quickest, smoothest abilities effects and animations to date!
iCloud Support - A save slot which allows game data to be saved to iCloud has been added. It is now possible to migrate game data across multiple devices.

Now that you’re all undoubtedly excited for the chance to play Final Fantasy Tactics on your iPhone or iPad, you’ll want to know the details of how to enter with a chance to win.

You have two weeks to submit a paragraph or two telling us what your favourite class from Final Fantasy Tactics is, and why? If you haven’t played any of the Tactics games before, which class would you most like to play, and why? It’s as simple as posting that in this thread to enter!

There will be further tasks posted in the thread over the two weeks for you to complete to increase your chances of winning. Make sure you check back in with the thread so you don’t miss out.

Remember, this is for an iOS copy of the game. Do make sure you have a device you're able to redeem this prize on before you enter!

Good luck to you all! :)

OPTIONAL TASK #1: Draw a picture of the class (race is yours to decide!) you described in your post. MS Paint, hand-drawn; Poorly drawn, masterpiece... you decide! Just get your art on and submit a picture.

OPTIONAL TASK #2: Make a new thread and five new posts in the Final Fantasy Tactics (http://home.eyesonff.com/final-fantasy-tactics/) subforum. Post links back in this thread.

Optional Task #3: Write a paragraph or two about what your favourite thing about EoFF is.

Me no have fancy expensive touchscreen devices :(

But I have to say, what a generous gift Square-Enix have given us yet again! They certainly enjoy giving us stuff. Not that I'm complaining. I'm still holding on to my poster with pride!

My experience of the tactics games comes from the Tactics Advance Series, rather than war of the lions. My favorite class was the Elementalist (Viera). I am typically a magic user, and I like the odd magics that some games provide. Magic attacks combined with status effects are the best.

While I experimented with a large amount of classes in the game, I did not actually particularly use the the Moogles or Nu Mou. I would be interested to see what roles War of the Lions have in order to to see what differs between the games.

When you say "favorite class", are you referring to FFT classes only, or FFTA classes as well? Your post is rather ambiguous.

Any class from any of the FFT games. :}

I'd love to play this on an iPad to see the full detail of things, but I only have a small iPod touch for the moment. Having FFT on iOS would give me a good incentive to consider stepping up to the iPad.

My pick:

Setting aside practical use in battle, I've always had a guilty pleasure in using Calculator/Arithmetician. The game isn't ever very good about giving you easy situations to use it to your advantage, but when the maths work out, it's satisfying. I really like the idea of incorporating sciences into a fantasy setting (yep, I like steampunk), and Arithmetician helps me bring out my inner math geek. I'm also a big fan of the character design for this class.

I know! We need more of this crap on Android. Although that would probably just motivate me to finally spend money on a tablet...

Why would Square Enix sponsor a giveaway that promotes iAnything? That's just... immoral.

Good thing there's a way to mod Android tablets to work with most iOS apps and games.

My favorite class is the Paravir, from Final Fantasy Tactics A2: Grimoire of the Rift.

The Paravir is the Samurai class of FFTA2. Translated as "Yojimbo" in the Japanese and Spanish versions (likely changed so as to avoid comparison with the Aeon (http://finalfantasy.wikia.com/wiki/Yojimbo_(Summon)) or previous (http://finalfantasy.wikia.com/wiki/Yojimbo_(Final_Fantasy_V)) foes (http://finalfantasy.wikia.com/wiki/Yojimbo_(Final_Fantasy_VI)) from the series), the job name refers to a Samurai or Ronin who has been hired as a bodyguard.

The Paravir has been designed as a new glass cannon for the Humes. It's one of the faster classes, and has the highest physical attack growth available for Hume units. It's abilities have been redesigned as boosted physical attacks, as opposed to the magical basis of FFT's original Samurai.

In terms of abilities, Paravir wield some of the most deadly on the battlefield. They possess four elemental attacks, each of which do base weapon damage times two as elemental damage, which gives them huge damage dealing potential to a wide variety of foes weak to particular elements. In addition, each of these moves have a chance of inflicting status ailments.

Plus, it's worth mentioning that Paravir can wield most of my favorite elements (all but Holy), wielding Frost, Lightning, and Darkness. They also get access to a ranged ability, some great supports, and Iai Blow, which has a chance at instantly killing their foe.

So, in short, they have a stat and ability setup that is pretty much custom tailored to make me happy, and are based around a really neat style and concept from Japanese history. Thus, they are my favorite class in the series, pushing aside my other top picks such as Blue Mage, Seer, or Assassin.

There are number of fun classes, but the one I enjoy the most is the the Arithmetician. As a statistician, this class immediately appeals to me from the numbers side. While slow in speed, the ability to kill everything, revive/heal your squad or inflict status ailments en masse is just cool. In the end it is more suited to a second ability because of the speed factor, but it becomes even more devastating the higher powered spells you learn. Not really sure why every sentence before this one starts with an objective phrase... #NotHowToWriteWell.

I love Archers, because I love how pitiful they are. I like watching them fire their little worthless bows as they take up a slot that could and should be long to a much more powerful and more effective class. They can't really take hits, and actually can't really do anything.

Plus, you can put them at really high elevations where they can do their awful, nearly scandalously bad damage from great distances, if you happen to be fighting in the one level of the game that actually allows you to do that.

Monk.

Pounding monsters to bits with my bare hands? Not only yes, but HELL yes!

Did you know that if you give a Monk the "Dual Wield" ability, they'll strike twice? Now that's some catastrophic beatdowns, that is. If you dig around the Deep Dungeon long enough, you can find some serious Monk-usable duds, and a Bracer is my accessory of choice.

My favorite class is the Arithmetician/Calculator. Math skills? Now that speaks to me. It's an unusual class, yet powerful, and it can also be a double edged blade. If you're not careful, it might be useless or fatal to one's own units. I like being able to hit all units with the selected condition and inflict spread damage fairly fast and having to keep tabs on my characters to not have them victim as well.

My favourite thing about EoFF is being an administrator. I am a lonely and worthless human being, and being able to wield power and authority over the users of a Final Fantasy message board fills a vacuum in my life that I cannot explain. If I see people being butts, I force them to compete in the Thunderdome. I mean, I could just say "yo, stop doing that thing!" but making them lose their dignity is so much more fun.

I also love changing people's names, sigs, avatars, you name it, for no other reason other than the amusement of myself or whoever PMs me and tells me "yo, go change that dude's stuff!" (By the way, requests for profile rapes have dropped off. What's happening? Hit me up jeez) I also like reading the staff forum. It's full of terrible human beings with awful opinions but I get to make fun of them and hoot and holler like a gibbon, flinging my poo all over the forum until they are entirely distracted by my capering and stop posting the bad posts that upset me.

My favourite thing at EoFF? That's kind of impossible to decided! I guess I'l have to be generic and go with the relationships. In the year and a half that I've been a member here, I've made so many wonderful friends. People I haven't physically met, but still consider to be some of the best friends I've ever had. I love that if I am having a rough time, I can talk to so many people on here about it, make a blog or EoEO thread, and get the support I need. I also met my boyfriend here, and luckily things aren't long distance for us. But he's the best guy I've ever dated, and thus EoFF has positively affected my life in a real way.
